07 5.4L EB swb ~14-15mpg average. Hasn't seen higher than 17 or 18 mpg in about 100k miles. Lieometer is actually spot on accurate.

17 3.5L Plat EL Lieometer says 18.3 average, with a high of 21 if real careful. Hand calculating has shown a consistent ~1.2 mpg less discrepancy so I don't bother hand calculating anymore. So real mpg is about 17.1-17.5 mpg avg when I'm driving 80 mph on the highway. Even 5 mph less helps a lot. I get ~19 when I'm cooling it at 70-75 without traffic.

2017 XLT 3.5L twin turbo with 30K mi.
I live in FL always drive with A/C on and I have a VERY heavy foot. I drive it like my 350Z.
I never get less than 16mpg in the city and if I set the cruise at 65-70mph while traveling to SC on I-95 I have gotten up to 24 mpg. No mods of any kind.

Hello,

I was just wondering what is everyone's average MPG. Please post the model year, engine, mileage, as well as any mods or recent maintenance you've done to improve your MPG, or what mods/maintenance you intend to do to improve it. Here's mine :

Model : 2014 Expedition SSV

Engine : Triton V8 5.4L 3V

Mileage : 130,000

Current average MPG : 12.4

Mods : None

Recent maintenance : Synthetic engine oil (5W30), new air filter, MAF clean, throttle body clean, new drive belt with tensioner and idler pulleys.

To do : Spark plugs, transmission fluid & filter, transfer case fluid, differential fluid.

Thanks! :)

2019 Exp 3.5 Eco gets 23.5 on the highway and honestly it drops to 14-15 in town.

Model : 2011 Expedition EL XLT

Engine : 5.4L 2V

Mileage : 139,000

Current average MPG : 18.1

Mods : Gotts Mod, K&N Air Filter, Gibson 3" catback exhaust, canned X4 87 octane performance tune

Recent maintenance : Synthetic 5w20 (always synthetic), cleaned MAF

To do : Will be installing 2.5/1.5 lift and brand new Bilstein 4600 shocks on all four corners next month. Also swapping 275/55/R20 Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenzas on stock 20" platinum wheels for more aggressive 285/75/R17 Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLTs on 17" Ford Raptor wheels (fully expecting loss in MPGs just due to the tire switch alone).

I have super short trips in my small town and have weekend highway trips at least 3 weekends a month. Still whenever I drive, you would think a grandma is behind the wheel so I can get the MPGs as high as possible.

Just got back from a 350 total mile trip and the computer said I averaged 21 mpg. Won't know actual till I get gas next week but if it ends up close to that I will be happy.

1997 XLT Expedition with 5.4L and semi aggressive Goodyear Wrangler Dura-Trac tires. I have three bench seats so it seats 9 people. Limited Slip front and rear differentials. I have consistently obtained 13.5-14.5 mpg depending on if I travel more then 65mph when on the highway. I've never gone under 13 even with a roof top X-Cargo carrier and the entire back filled with camping gear. I pull the rear seat for those occasions. Expedition is almost at 170,000. I call it my "Beast."

18 Expy Limited, 3.5TT, 3.73, 4x4, no mods. Highway on flat roads, 20.5 at 70 mpg while driving to Saint Simon, GA. Back home in TN 18.5 if I can keep my foot out of it. 14.5 if I drive like a scalded dog.

Model : 2009 Expedition EL XLT

Engine : 5.4L 3V V8

Mileage : 177,000

Current average MPG : 16.1

Mods : None

Recent maintenance : Synthetic engine oil (5W30), new air filter, all new coil packs

To do : Spark plugs, transmission fluid & filter

My mileage is down from 18.3 a couple years ago, but up from the 14-15 range since changing out the coil packs. I've been running Mobil 1 pure synthetic 5W20 high mileage oil every 4000 miles since about the 150K mark. My daily drive is approx 40 miles highway and 10 city twice daily, if the kiddos have no ballgames to travel to.

2017 Expy EL 4x4 with 3.73 gear ratio. Seeing 19.5mpg over the last 5,000 miles via trip computer on 80%hwy driving at 75 or below mostly 93 but using 87 since the weather cooled off with no drop in mpg.

Towing a very wind resistant dual axle utility trailer I get 9 to 11 mpg at 65mph.

2010 XLT EL 4x4

5.4L

130000+

AT 285 70 17 E tires

Superchips Flashpaq tuner

5w 30 full synthetic

Average 13.5-13.8 up to 14.2 long highway drives.

I did notice after changing to 5w 30 seems to stay more near 13.5, could be just me.

Wife drives it mostly, I tend to have a slightly heavier foot than she, just slightly though.

Am still trying to dial in the tire size difference, speedo still seems off compared to apps and on road speed indicators.

I typically drive a 1997 F-250 HD 4x4 that always gets 8 mpg so anything in the double digits makes me happy.

Thanks for your replies! I just got two maintenance items off my truck's bucket list: rebuilt the original alternator and changed the original platinum spark plugs to new Champion Iridiums. Thread here:

https://www.expeditionforum.com/threads/motorcraft-platinum-spark-plugs-after-132-000-miles.40938/

I will see if this makes a difference. So far, idle still remains where it was at: approx 500 RPM when the truck is stopped. I had to disconnect the battery for 3 days while the alternator was being rebuilt and so the onboard confuzer was totally reset. I'm curious to see what mileage it will display now...
