One of my facebook friends called hers a "bus", and it's kind of fitting. I'm thinking of "monster bus" - it's 3 syllables but has a cool ring to it. Maybe "MB" for short? But then my wife actually suggested we call it the "hearse" because it's black, and I'm kinda thinking that's cool, too... I think I'm getting somewhere here!:pepper:

Lol, same thing with my 3 year old daughter. I take her to daycare on my way to work, and I usually want to commute in the Civic, because it's cheaper, but some mornings she just refuses to go in the Civic and says "I wanna go in the big big truck today". So we _have to_ take "big big truck" :)

I usually call it "my truck" when I talk to most people about it. I sometimes call it "Frank the Tank" when I talk about it to my close friends or my wife. And I obviously call it the "big big truck" when talking to my daughter :)

Lol, that's exactly where i got the idea for the name... and from the fact that one of my eco-minded friends asked "what do you need that tank for?" when i told him i bought an Expy.

if your like me you need the tank because your friends have these small little 4 cylinder cars that have a back seat thats only comfortable if your under 4 feet tall, Im 5'8" and trying to get in my girlfriends friends hyundai sonata is the most painful experience i ever deal with.....Now I drive every time we all go out as a group

I hear that! I have all the room in the world in the expy, but whenever I ride in a car, I pretty much get cramps trying to get out. I feel like I have to pull myself out of the car, rather than jump out lol

Mine is simply "the truck" or "Daddy's Truck" if my two littlest ones are around to tell you what it is, especially since our other vehicle is a Montana van. My wife doesn't mind calling it a truck because she says she hates the way it rides. "This thing rides like a truck." Duh!

Its My Truck, or my expy

whenever me and my buds go out I always say "who's car are we takin?" they usually respond with "well... it would be a lot easier if we didnt have to ride in seperate cars so....... can we take your truck?"
I usually respond with "sure! but who's paying for gas, cuz I know it isnt going to be me?" :rotflmao:
We have rode 8 deep in that thing with no complaints. I love having the 3rd row facing backward it reminds me of my friend's mom's volvo station wagon lol.

Oh and its my TRUCK, when people say "its an SUV" I say "Its got a truck chassis, engine, hitch, 4wd, its lifted, and if you fold the seats down it has a bed.... close enough for me"

That's right, it does have a bed when you take out the third row and fold down the second. It really is a truck.

Expeditionary, I never thought about turning that third row around. I think I'll try doing that next time at the drive in movie with the liftgate open. That'd rock!

Amen! I'm 6' 1 and though I can fit in my civic's driver seat without a problem, it would be a pain if I ever had to ride in the back seats. (and I did once when my wife was driving and asked me to sit in the back with the baby). Even with only the 2 kids in the back, the Civic is way too small. (especially that both my kids are girls, so we carry around a ton of luggage wherever we go lol). The truck was a must. So much space. I can finally breathe !!! :pepper:

BTW, speaking of eco-thugs. I know this guy who drives an Excursion and told me that each time one of his tree-hugging coworkers tells him that he should take the bus to work instead of his "car", he points to the Ex and goes... "but I am taking the bus. A nine-seater bus and i'm the driver :D"

HAHAHA, I don't have to many eco-minded friends, but I always like when people ask me how I can justify driving a vehicle like my X. I tell them "easy, I just get in and drive" :) If I get into a collision, I will be many times more likely to suffer less injuries than in some econo-box, and that means much more to me than a few bucks saved in fuel, and to make some environmentalist happy.

i feel the same way, when i am toting around my kids in my ex (which is not very often, that is why i have a 2010 crew cab silverado!) i want them to be safe! you dont buy these for the fuel mileage!

as for SUV...i smack people in the mouth. Mine is an OUV (offroad utility vehicle) or OHV (offroad hunting vehicle)...there is nothing "sporty" about it!

3rd row backwards? thats a good idea! never thought bout that. i think im gonna do that now. haha but my big ass amp is in the way... no room to put that thing. and i think my parents think the same way for safety. i can take 8 people with little complaints. usually older folks whos ears hurt. haha but what about seat belts in the 3rd row? stupid cali laws and back seat people need seat belts. haha

Oh, the trehuggers have a comeback to that one too...
I've heard two versons:

1. "yeah, but what if all drivers would get bigger and bigger cars to protect themselves? then we'd all end up driving semi trucks" --> my answer "oh, boy would I love to be allowed to drive a semi to work" :flamingdevil:

2. "yeah, but what if it's you that makes a mistake in traffic and you crash into a smaller car and kill the driver and his family? There's less risk of killing them if you're in a car of similar size" --> my answer: "that is indeed a risk, but from what I see on the roads, I think chances are much higher that someone else crashes into my car than I crash into theirs. I drive very defensively and am very careful, and I never push the truck to its limits, because I know it's not as nimble as my Civic and I know that any mistake I make could kill someone much easier".

and ultimately, my answer to their why is... "Because I f'kin LOVE trucks!"

i love your first response lmao. i wouldn't mind driving a Mack ch613 to work lol. McMahon transport has a pretty nice looking one for fuel deliveries i work for citgo and every time that driver comes with the mack that thing is clean and polished never seen a truck with so much chrome lol
