im assuming 2nd b/c i dont think turn signal mirrors came out till then i could be wrong. i still dont think theres any thing special with the ebs. just a name. everything you want on an eb you can get on the xlt. almost everything. you cant get his name on everything. other then that i think the options that are on the ebs are on the xlts.

My 05 XLT has power adjust pedals, manual third row, cloth seats, and unpainted plastic lower moldings. Never been in an EB so I can't help you there.

I saw the 01 or 02 that had the flasher on the outside of the mirror, my 99 has them in the mirror.

I think the eb's just came loaded with mostly everythingstock, where as the xlt can be purchased with most items at additional cost when purchased new, jmho though.

Power driver seat, power fold third row, premium sound 6 disc changer with subwoofer, 2 tone leather interior, turn signals under the mirror, 17 inch wheels eb and up standard, auto climate control, with options like sunroof and back up sensors and overall just general badassness
the biggest difference on the outside is that eb has gold painted mouldings
if you want to go all out go with a limited! There loaded

see idk when they came out. i guess 99+ had them. but the inside i dont see anything special. ive been in a 02 xlt and a 01 eb. both had leather. both layout are the same. only difference was the seats had his name on it. both have air ride the 02 was 2wd with 22s and 01 was stock with 4wd. rims can always be changed out. both have sun roof. its just options you can buy. and i think its the paint on the outside thats difference. but the limited now thats a price tag! haha also just options you could most likely get on the xlt with a bit smaller price tag and it not saying limited. thats just where im coming from. dealers now a days try to get you with things that they say ooo it only comes with this edition. yes but if you throw an extra $100 at them theyll put it in. just my 2 cents worth.

the big thing is the front end. look at mine compared to a 99-02. my grill is flat on the bottom while the 99+ has a dip. my bumper is just HUGE! haha while the 99+ is a bit smaller and rounder. (these are for the 99-02) the interier also changed a little bit. the knob placement for the rear air went into the center console and the air control is digital if i remember right. and i know the center consoles arm rest compartment thing is also a bit wider and has a different look to it. the engine changed a bit too. on both the 4.6 and 5.4 ford increased the power by 30 hp i think it was and the lay out of the covers changed too. (thats not a big deal) i also think those are the years of the spark plug pop outs. i could be wrong. i think tonydiv has a 98 and had spark plug problems. but i think the 99-02 had a bigger problem with them coming out. someone will chime in let you know more. also i think the 99+ didnt have the 2wd option when you bought a 4wd version. it was either a4wd 4hi or 4lo. no 2wd. other then that i dont think anything else changed much. if i think of something ill let you know.

the plugs would blow out or pop out of the head. i dont know exactly why they did that. some one knows. the spark plug would literly blow out of the head. and the plug would some times go back in. if not then it needs to be re threaded. and if it happens again to the same plug then i dont think it can be re threaded.

So 99 02 had the plug pop out issues? WOW

Actually, 97-02 have he issue, but if the plugs are torqued to spec, and changed properly you don't normally have an issue, I know the 3 valve 5.4 has the plug issue the breaks in half somethimes when you change them, the 5.4 2 v is due to the amount of threads, or lack there of, but it is fixable, and its not to expensive if you do it your self if it does happen, it excessive pressure that can blow the out.

thats true. but i think 99-02 is more prone to it cause i think the heads were changed. and i know the 5.4 is also more prone to it.

They had an episode on speed about the 4.6 heads blowing plugs because there werent enough threads, and they talked thru the process of fixing it.
