which wax do you use?

I tryed the Meguires 3 step system this week, cleaner, polish and wax. Gotta say is works great. Cleaned up all the tiny spider web scratches (even the scratches from cats jumping on and off). It also gives a deep appearance to the finish. All three steps took about 2 1/2 hours, but well worth it.
I also put some rain-x on the chrome part of the front bumper--makes it alot easier to get the bugs off
Any one have any other detailing tips to share?

I've tried different items. I tend to like 3M imperial hand glaze for dark paints. Especially if the paint is "dirty" or has swirl marks (a real &*%#@ to get out). I follow this with 1 grand Blitz wax. Easy on, easy off. If the paint just looks a little weathered..I don't use glaze. I will use P21S paintwork cleanser or similar products. Kinda like a toned down version of a glaze. As always, wax at the end. 3M also makes a great tire and rubber treatment. Vinylex for plastic and vinyl. Lexol products for leather cleaner and conditioner. Make sure everything that touches the paint is 100% cotton.

I use the Black Turtle Wax. It surprisingly took off some tree sap that I had on my roof. Since the wax is black, it doesn't leave white marks on the black trim either.

i've heard good stuff about Zaino, but haven't tried it yet. some say the shine is even better than meguires. let us know your experiences with it. also have heard of a product called Adams that is supposed to give great shine and protection. anyone used Adams yet?
side note--i hit mine with meguires quick detailer after washing yesterday and noticed that dust doesn't seem to stick to the finish as bad.

ZAINO! All my vehicles are Black and well...if you ever owned Black vehicles let me tell you they are a b@#*h to wax. Especially this tank. But damn does it look good when you get done.

Agree with the posts above. The key is to buy a good quality wax and USE it. They haven't invented a brand yet that jumps off the garage shelf and applies itself to the vehicle. I find doing a section at a time works best since these beasts are so freakin' big. I have mostly meguir's products on my shelf, but another one to try is the new Nanowax, advertised to fill small scratches and swirls--just did my black 2003--no complaints , works great on darker colors, removed or reduced all the swirls/minor marks and scratches, and very easy to apply/remove.

i just started using dri-n-wash waterless car wash - its hard to beleive but just put it on a dirty vehicle and rub it in - no water needed - beautiful finish and no scratches. believe it or not.

Ive used the Mcguiars 3 step aswell on my other cars.. It does do wonders but jeeze plan on a whole day to get the job done right. It is a bangup product though. Ive also heard good things about Zymol.

Zaino for sure... it's amazing that I still get compliments from the dealers as to the condition/shine on my '99 Expedition (purchased new).

I use Meguairs as well, and in between full waxes use the quick detailer. I use it on my motorcycle as well.

Detailing tip similar to using the Rain-x on the chrome to help with bug sticking - Lemon Pledge. Great for removing bugs and protecting from bug guts sticking - doesn't hurt the paint or plastics. I use it religiously on my motorcycles - the headlight and windscreen and paint. The bugs come off much easier the next time around after a Pledge waxing. Imparts a nice shine too.

Currently I use Final Detail, which I bought on QVC. It is a spray-on wax that is practically effortless to apply and remove. It puts a nice finish on any type of paint and really makes the colors pop. The first application on my Ex has lasted since late August, and it still looks great. It actually made the yellow on my wife's Mustang look richer and wetter. Works nice on chrome and even the black plastic trim. Washing, and especially bug and tar removal, is lots easier. And it leaves no white residue ANYWHERE...a real bonus!
