Why does base HVAC have more connectors than digital climate control?

I think I used a combination of a cutting wheel and grinding attachment, but don't remember if I used the flexible attachment. I think I used some small files too. It's tight, but not impossible. Definitely easier with the glove box door removed.

How'd you get in there to dremel that? Flex attachment and cutting wheel?

Or the grinding bits?
