OK, I am aware this is a "low priority issue", but I do like things to work, so could anyone please give me some insights on how to use this fixture attached to the console lid? I figure this is for CD's but if CD cases are placed in the fixture, they will quickly end up in the bottom of the "box"...Maybe something is missing (bought the rig used) , or ?CD storage.JPG

In the owner's manual, it lists that area as "utility compartment, coin holder slots, tissue box holder, audio input jack and USB port"
As I also never figured out its purpose, it seemed likely that it is in fact the tissue box holder.

I stuffed a ziploc bag of Tums in mine lol. I thought it was a CD holder but now I'm wondering if it does hold a thin box of "hospital issue" type tissues. I just figured out the other day that the "mykey" slot is undernesth that tissue box holder. I'm new at this.

From what I remember there was a tissue box that fits that area but I slide my kids dvd cases in there for the rear entertainment system. 4 Of them fit perfect and still allow the lid to open and shut

Kleenex makes a small tissue box that fits perfectly in that slot. That is what the that space is used for. The two hook things are for pens.

As mentioned an odd size tissue box goes in the slot, unfortunately those tissue boxes only be found sold in case quantity. Fortunately I bought a case and would sell as many as you want for $2 each w/freight. PM me if interested.

I fold a few old style maps and jam em in there .. and they actually stay put because of that spring part. I think the 2 clips are for ceegars, now that's even more manly than a leather covered humidor case.

Those old style folded maps (like AAA gives you) are just for nostalgia purposes, garbage. Use Google Maps now (unless in Canada). The printed maps I use come in very handy and I have a book map for each state I travel in ... Atlas and Gazeteer type, some with topo info also - those are the best. The map books have every driveable road in that state. Sweet!

Now I gotta figure out what MyKey is .... never heard of that.

On the old 05, the center console was big enough that a regular sized box of tissues fit inside of it. Now I just have a box of tissues sitting of the floor right behind the console.

How many boxes in a case and can you get them from Amazon?

Now I gotta figure out what MyKey is .... never heard of that.

MyKey allows you to program one of the keys with restrictions, for example if you have a young driver that is going to drive your truck, you can put a restriction on how fast they can go.

PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION
MyKey allows you to program keys with
restricted driving modes to promote good
driving habits. All but one of the keys
programmed to the vehicle can be
activated with these restricted modes.
Any keys that have not been programmed
are referred to as administrator keys or
admin keys. They can be used to:
• Create a MyKey.
• Program configurable MyKey settings.
• Clear all MyKey features.
When you have programmed a MyKey, you
can access the following information using
the information display:
• How many admin keys and MyKeys are
programmed to your vehicle.
• The total distance your vehicle has
traveled using a MyKey.
Note: All MyKeys are programmed to the
same settings. You cannot program them
individually.

Note: For vehicles equipped with a
push-button start switch: When both a
MyKey and an admin key are present when
you start your vehicle, the system recognizes
the admin key only.

Non-configurable Settings
The following settings cannot be changed
by an admin key user:
• Belt-Minder or safety belt reminder.
You cannot disable this feature. The
audio system will mute when the front
seat occupants’ safety belts are not
fastened.
• Early low fuel. The low fuel warning is
activated earlier, giving the MyKey user
more time to refuel.
• Driver assist features, if equipped on
your vehicle, are forced on: parking aid,
blind spot information system (BLIS),
cross traffic alert, lane departure
warning and forward collision warning
system.
• Satellite radio adult content
restrictions (available only in some
markets).
Note:When you switch lane departure
warning off temporarily, it turns on at the
next ignition cycle.

Configurable Settings

With an admin key, you can configure
certain MyKey settings when you first
create a MyKey and before you recycle the
key or restart the vehicle. You can also
change the settings afterward with an
admin key:
• A vehicle speed limit can be set.
Warnings will be shown in the display,
followed by an audible tone when your
vehicle reaches the set speed. You
cannot override the set speed by fully
depressing the accelerator pedal or by
setting cruise control.

WARNING
Do not set MyKey maximum speed
limit to a limit that will prevent the
driver from maintaining a safe speed
considering posted speed limits and
prevailing road conditions. The driver is
always responsible to drive in accordance
with local laws and prevailing conditions.
Failure to do so could result in accident or
injury.

Various vehicle speed reminders so you
know when your vehicle approaches
the limits. Warnings appear in the
information display and an audible
warning sounds when you exceed the
limit.
• Audio system maximum volume of
45%. A message will be shown in the
display when you attempt to exceed
the limited volume. Also, the
speed-sensitive or compensated
automatic volume control will be
disabled.
• Always on setting. When this is
selected, you will not be able to turn
off Advance Trac or traction control,
911 Assist or Emergency Assistance, or
Do Not Disturb (if your vehicle is
equipped with these features).

Here's my take on MyKey. If I feel I need to set it up in order for someone to use my truck they are NOT driving it! PERIOD!

I put my owners manual/packet in there. Fit perfectly. And a couple pens in the clips. Makes the lid a bit heavier so it can slam if it’s open and you hit the brakes while driving, but it frees up space in the glove box.

Scary sounding feature.

More likely to be compromised by hackers or police states (what? People drive Fords in crazy-ass countries too... you think a place that'll execute people for heresy or adultery or lese majeste will have scruples about hacking somebodys truck????) than to actually be used for good
