It is a very valid point indeed. However companies do have to be headquartered somewhere and pay its tax rates and that’s where profits are headed. Ford and GM are in Michigan..... Toyota is not. Again nothing wrong with that they still contribute to our economy.

Well, it’s 1000x more complex than that, and not quite that dramatic. They have a hefty US Tax obligation as a corporation.

I get your point, but the company is quite American by at least my definition. But it hinges on what the definition of “American” really is. And that’s very subjective.

You are not kidding about contributing to our economy. I can tell you Alabama is happy to have them.

Now what about Ford?
Ford Motor announced Tuesday that it would cancel plans for a $1.6 billion Mexico plant and launch a Michigan expansion in a move that may be viewed as a capitulation to Donald Trump.

Also:
To be sure, Ford acknowledged that it would still move production of the next-generation Focus sedan to Mexico, as previously announced. But it will be built at an existing plant in Hermosillo, Mexico, not at a new facility.

All valid points, there will be no more focus sold here in USA, it’s being discontinued along with all other sedans by ford.

Btw Jexpedition, when I’m ragging on newbies who frown on the ecoboost I’ve never directed it at you lol. You post some good stuff on here that I actually find useful. Tried to send you a PM but couldn’t for some reason.

Now that being said, take this with a grain of salt....I drove an older expedition years ago with the 5.4. Was a great truck. Can’t remember how it sounded but I’ll say this: my current ecoboost Expedition has a very very quiet cabin. Impressively quiet with the sound screen glass etc. but, the engine and turbos are a bit...whistley for lack of a better term. Not noisy, but I can definitely hear the higher pitches of the engine as it works hard. Maybe that’s what Trainmaster was referring to?

Why, Everytime Somebody speaks badly about the EB, he jumps on the bandwagon and starts speaking that the V8’s are better....yet he has never owned an EB and driven it Day in and day out.

I defended with Numbers and Dyno Data, yet he still ignored it, and redirected to a different manufacturer’s engine. Then said the Chevy 6.2 would get better MPG, yet the EPA numbers are quite the opposite. Still nothing.

I love a good V8, but saying the EB 3.5TT is inferior just because it has 2 less cylinders is BS, and that is pretty much his argument.

The OP had one experience with a Rental, that obviously had other Electronic/Mechanical issues, most likely because of mistreatment by a previous renter.

I have a excoworker that now owns a 2017 Expy, because of a Rental he drove in CO in the Mountains on Vacation. Traded his Chevy Truck in on it. That was a year ago, and he still owns it and is loving it. He fell in love with the comfort, MPG, and constant low end power.

Speaking of a Tree(Sequoia). Loved the one I test drove, so did the wife, but the price was ridiculous for the same options as our 2015 Expy. We have a friend that has had several and her kid calls it the Tree cause he couldn’t pronounce the name. Plus, man the MPG’s people report are bad, but that isn’t my first criteria.

I also respect any manufacturer that brings jobs to the US. Drove a Passat TDI assembled in TN for 3 years as my DD before my Edge. Loved it and got a tour of the plant when I stopped by one Summer. Was pretty cool.

We seriously considered a sequoia to replace our Land Cruiser but I really did want a few more bells and whistles and I was getting a little weary of the Toyota bland taste. I kept waiting for them to update the sequoia and do something exciting with it. Never happened. But they are nice trucks no doubt. I don’t have a personal beef with anyone on here, but I definitely try to counter some of the ecoboost misunderstandings since I actually own one and drive it a lot of miles. I have 82,000 miles on mine already. By the end of this year I’ll be likely crossing over into 100,000 mile territory.

Have you had any motor or transmission issues with the ecoboost, tow much with it? I have a 100k powertrain warranty on mine and plan on keeping it till that warranty is up (67k more miles to go)...

None so far. I have only changed spark plugs and oil at this point.
