09 Expy EL, busted, just now started on the tear down but haven't got eyes on yet as exactly what broke, but thinking its the right side tensioner/guide popped/cracked the valve cover. There was no catastrophic failure and it limped a mile before being parked.

I'm going to use a the high flow Melling oil pump and am leaning on the Ford timing chain replacement set.

Before I pull out the credit card, what's the thought on the Cloyes offering?

How many miles at point of failure? Use the ford parts or you'll be tearing it down again. Check out the F150 forums and see it's a common reoccurence if you use non Ford parts. Pay the little extra and keep it oem, the new parts have been revised several times since 09.

I replaced everything on my 05 at 100K as a preventative exercise. The damn thing sounded like a diesel... I too did the Mellings pump, but I was tight on cash and used all aftermarket timing parts with no problem. I traded it in at 148K still as silent as it was after I put it back together.

Well from what I've just read about fitment issues on various different vehicles, I'd say pay the diff, and go with Ford. It never ceases to amaze me how an aftermarket manufacturing company can have the Ford part right in front of their mug, copy it, and screw something up! It's too thick, too thin, the tightness on gears is wrong! Theirs interference with the block, something. It seems that if your making a clone of a part, then clone it. Nah go with Ford part, online theirs a lot of places to order from to save a $.

Johnboneske, sorry I missed your post, that would have helped.

Can anybody advise me the orientation of the Ignition Transformer Capacitors for an 09-10 5.4L?

the black plastic square with a notch missing and a wire protruding.

thanks, mv
