I try my best to do most of the maintenance and other odds and ends to my family's vehicles/toys, but this is the first time (and last time without a 6 foot minimum lift) I've ever bothered putting a catback exhaust on any 4 wheeled vehicle I've owned.

I fought with the OEM piece for quite a while, before giving up and grabbing the reciprocating saw, and shearing that monkey directly behind the muffler, close to the weld. Regret not doing it sooner. Maybe I could have removed the rear sway bar, spare tire, or ??? but that mammajamma would not come out. So to be clear, don't attempt unless you have access to a decent lift, or pay someone. Once the OEM piece was out, it was about 30 minutes to have the new one tightened up.
Pics and video link to come.

Without a sound clip..... this has gotten to be the most USELESS thread ever created on expeditionforum.com

Sound clip is in the post. Very last line.
It's 5 minutes long. Start the vehicle, with door open, close door drive out of neighborhood. WFO at about 2.20 for a block and a half.

Turn up your volume, buddy.

EDIT...Maybe I should further point out, when you click on the link, it brings up what appears to be a photo of my dash, but it's not. You have to click on the pic if your using your phone, and the clip starts.

LoL whatever bro I'll watch your video but the link says "photo" and I didn't click it because of that very reason you'd think this guy wants to brag about his exhaust with more photos

Nice work, hope your happy with it. No longer a stocker. I’m sure it makes more noise judging by the muffler downsize lol.

Sound good actually... that's how ford should've designed their expedition to sound like to begin with, congrats man.

Ps. To everyone else, the video is pretty much pitch black 99.999% of the time lol but the exhaust & 5150 pops nose sniffles are all there

Wow!
Why the hostility?
Everyone shares, on forums, it's what's done. Why do you assume it's bragging? I didn't mention cost, nor brand. Bragging, eh, I have always posted a direct link of video clips from my Google account, because it's quicker, and doesn't degrade the quality like YouTube does.

Lighten up, the fellas that are removing their resonators and shoving a tailpipe in it's place are bragging too???
What about fellas with tunes?
It's to share, but I'm really starting to think there is some disconnect with the folks North of the Mason-Dixon line. Too uptight.

Yes, I wasn't expecting it to be as loud as it is.
The point of the video was too demonstrate the sound at regular cruising rpm, and wfo from inside the truck. It's unfortunate to be criticized for including a sound clip even though it's a video. That was the first time I had started it, after finishing up, and the phone rode in the cupholder once I put my seatbelt on.

It may also have been missed, but this catback exits behind the right rear tire, at a 45° angle. It was one of the reasons I bought it, much for the same reasons pointed out in the thread about removing the resonator.
Thanks for kind words.

All good, I'm a bit beat down, and on edge. Spent way too much time on this, today.

Where the stock muffler mates to the flex pipe behind the cat, there are two flanges, one obviously doesn't get reused because it's on the OEM muffler. It also happens to be threaded for the 2 M-10 1.5 pitch bolts that are re-used. Guess what, yep the flange on the "new exhaust" does not come threaded, orrrr with the aforementioned appropriate nuts welded on. So I gotz my shit blown open, my wife left to take older daughter to homecoming dinner, prior to the "dance" and I couldn't do dick until she got back home, so I could run to the hardware store and find some nutz. Determined to finish this shit TODAY, I fitted it up in the dark with a forehead flashlight.

I do wish it was a bit quieter at low revs, but I'm not too disappointed. Probably dropped 50-80lbs too, compared to the oem, so that will help offset the weight of the Setina setup, which I had hoped to have installed as well today.

Cgs Motorsports
He has aluminized steel
I think black coat
and the full SS which is what I got.

You get what you pay for, magnaflow it is NOT.

Fairly certain it came from China, if it did not, it is unfortunate. It also is not as advertised on the site, the muffler is NOT embossed with his logo, and iirc, the 4" tip is supposed to be 8"-12" but is probably 5"-6".

Why didn't I send it back? I blame myself for buying it in the first place, doing as I sipped Maker's Mark. It was packaged well, the fellow was talking about 20% restocking fee plus return shipping on me. Originally I had spoke to him sober several days prior to the drunken purchase, and another lesser known mfg apparently got the two mixed up in my drunken recollection. The other one apparently is the one with 3.5" or 4" front to back.

So I basically would stand to get about half my $500 refund, shipping it back to CGS - IF it returned unharmed. So I kept it and hoped for the best. As I removed the packaging I noticed the discrepancy of the tip and muffler, but it still lined up well dimensionally next to the OEM so I went ahead and installed only to find out the captured flange that sits forward of the muffler that meets the OEM flex pipe is not machined nor does it have captured nuts or welded nuts, or loose nuts in the sealed hardware bag that contained the 3 exhaust clamps. So I had to source some at the local hardware store.

With all that said, I'm not slinging mud at CGS Motorsports, not even a little bit, simply providing a truthful review of the product I received, vs what is clearly promoted on their site, as well as a portion of the customer service I received after the sale.

You know you trashed about $600 of 20-year American made stainless muffler and resonator to install a high carbon steel Chinese rustmaster exhaust that began its life as a Datsun hood?

CGS sells 3 types
Aluminized Steel
Stainless Steel
Black Stainless

I bought plain Stainless steel.

As far as the OEM exhaust, not entirely/remotely sure how anyone could make that leap as you did? A single cut, with a sawzall directly behind the weld - joining muffler to rear length of exhaust that feeds to the OEM resonator, is a simple fix for even a non journeyman welder. Unless someone took a direct look at another expedition side by side with both on lifts, it would most likely still pass as OEM factory original, non altered/repaired part - if done correctly and stirred into the original seam.
