My wife’s Highlander has factory remote start.
I can unlock the car from a whole lot farther away than the remote start will work.
I think they do it on purpose so some reason.

yeah probably so, and mine seams a lot better now that I know to hit the lock button 1st. It will start from inside the home now! I'm wondering about the hvac options in the forscan now. I plan to mess with them some time in the future, as it just seams weird that it goes max defrost even if all is off? I don't remember all the option in there, I do know that a lot of them I don't have, like heated seats and steering wheel. I'm hoping rear defrost will be a option, but I want to see 1st if it works without me changing anything.

All newer Ford Factory remote starts require lock the start button 2 times. Our 15 was that way, my 16 Edge is that way, and our 17 is that way. Take a look at the FORSCAN sheet for a 2014 F150. I know there are some remote start HVAC tweaks. Maybe one of those will help.

OK, I haven't gotten to turn the remote start on yet, But just finished programming to new keys after 40 minutes of trying. Thru the program instructions in the video, my keys would start the expy, but buttons would not work. After some searching I found this and it worked perfectly. You do have to push trunk button on each remote prior to turning ignition of and removing key or else it doesn't work. (several trial and errors there for me). Hope this helps.

. Programming the key start function is just like any other Ford key: have 2 programmed keys on hand, turn the 1st one to ON for 3 secs, remove and turn the 2nd one to ON for 3 seconds, remove and turn the new one to ON for 6 seconds, repeat for 2nd new one. Door locks should cycle to confirm programming. On ours we got an error on the dash that states it could not program integrated key. At first we thought that meant it had failed to program but the keys WILL start the vehicle. The remote won't work though. You have to program that separately by cycling the key from OFF to ON 8 times. Door locks will cycle to confirm you are ready. My advice is to hit the Trunk button on the first new key, then on the second new key, then on the remaining old keys. Turn ignition to off, exit vehicle and confirm it all works. We still get the message on the dash that it can't program integrated key but at this price we can ignore that 2 second message and enjoy our remote start.

Also, I never got any error messages

I never got any error messages. I copy and pasted that instruction section from a review on Amazon. I left that portion in for those that might get the error. Maybe I should have put quotes around that section or made it more obvious so Buckeye's wouldn't be confused. GO Terps!

Had to get an extended license( Free and Easy), but was able to use Forscan to enable remote start in Body Module configuration as in second video in post 4. Works GREAT!!!!!

I made sure doors were locked, pressed start button on Remote, pressed start button again and held until started. Unlocked doors with remote and truck stayed running. Put key in switched and turned to on position. If you do not put the key into ignition and turn to on position, the gear shift will not move from PARK.

This worked on 2017 expedition XLT with sync 1, using Forscan with extended license, OHP ELM327 USB WIFI adapter from Amazon, and two keys From Amazon. Last two were links in previous posts by others. All For $80.

Good Luck.

Just wanted to give a shout out to you all here. I just programmed the two remotes I bought on the Amazon link, enabled remote start via forscan, and boom, remote start for under $50. I almost had the wife get me a system for Christmas, until I read up on here, so now I can have just get me the 5 channel amp instead[emoji106].

You all rock, and thank you for the great information.
