Pictures of tray below and our 2018 Expy.

I looked at a few of the tray options and thought they were OK but figured I would draw up a custom one and print it out.

It turned out pretty good! I had the quality settings pretty low so it would print faster but still looks good. Made a spot for chap stick, pens, headphones and then just random other ones. I might make another to fill up the front of the console. Seem like another option would be to design some sort of stacking trays or design a deep part of the tray for taller things (or pistols!).

What do you guys think? Any ideas of something I should add ? Should probably cut out some 'grippy' material and put in the bottom of tray

If you decide to make a few extra and sell a couple count me in. I think that looks great.

Yeah that could be fun! Could even customize it a bit if there is anything you want a spot for.

One thing I did think about is it might have made sense to print it without the bottom 'floor' of the tray because the console already has a soft material down there that is good at gripping items. But of course, it might be nice for it to be a tray for easy cleaning if something explodes in there.

I'm loading up the expedition to head down to the beach with the family tomorrow but could draw/print a few when I get back.

Looks great, except, I think on this forum, everyone wants room for extra magazines*. And there's already pen holders for two pens under the lid. Do you really need that many more?

*I guess they're all bad shots, 'cause apparently a double stack plus 1 isn't enough...

haha! I use one of the pen things up top as a flashlight holder and I figured I would lose the other pen so thats why I added a few. Good point though.

Even better point about mags! A few slots for double stack mags would be sick! Or one that fits the outline of a pistol and then maybe has a stackable tray on top of it to conceal it and still have useable space.

Drawing up an additional version that has mag holders and anything else cool we can think of. Thinking of a design that is a bit taller and is built to go over these 'shoulders' in the bottom of the console.

Oh cool! Same here. I'm going to be sad because I'm at 1800 miles so it will hurt a bit. We have 3 kids all in car seats so that takes up a good amount of space.

Are you a double stack kind of guy? I can go either way (yeah I said it!), I've been carrying single stack alot lately but especially keep an extra mag when I go single.

I everyday carry a G43 with the +1. Just because it carries well with about any clothing. I have a gen5 g19 I like to carry sometimes as well. I think either way an extra mag is good. Never know what may happen. Rather have it just in case. Dang, I about forgot one of my favorites my HK vp9sk. That is a comfortable gun to carry. lol.

So you guys headed to Navarre as well?

Looks like my part of New York is revoking most carry licenses and mine in up for renewal in June. I may have to move out of this place. They're raising the requirement to proof of $50,000/month of cash bank deposits.

We are headed to Cape San Blas on the Gulf. Its our first time going there but seems like a neat low key place to go.

I carry a 4" XDs most of the time. I like to keep it in the XD family because I have a full size XD tactical that I use at 3 gun competitions so I figure it may help that practice transfer over.

Printed out these small templates - trying to get those dimensions dialed in so I can design something sweet that can take advantage of the full width of the console. Might even have to make a spot that just so happens to fit AR mages standing up.

don't see any $50,000 requirement anywhere … in the USA

???????

This isn't law. It's an unwritten police regulation that our county department effected. You probably know that in New York, individual counties can restrict state permits they issue any way they wish. Here on Long Island, permits are stamped "Target & Hunting" which only lets you carry to and from the range. To get a "business" stamp on your license you must show a business need to carry a firearm. We have a new commissioner who came from New York City and he has mandated that only the carrying of $50,000 or more monthly warrants one's defending himself.

It's ironic that if I lived in a free county, as yours upstate probably is, your county would issue me a license without some silly restriction and I could carry here on Long Island. Because I live here, I can't.

This place sucks. And I know this has very little to do with Expeditions or Fords.

Sounds like you could be a future Idahoan. We don't have such crazy laws (on firearms). ;)

What wheels and tires you got on there. Looks great!

Actually, the 'stock' wheels and tires that came with my limited. Had a shop here in Atlanta paint the existing wheels. Seems like they did a great job. I googled around and some people suggest plastidip but there was no way I was getting that stuff near my Expy. Maybe my 2008 Explorer.

Anyway - paid 600 to have it done and get new black lug nuts.
