I use the cheap stuff around town and premium when I'm towing. Around here, the increase in mileage while towing means the price difference is a wash. So the increased performance is free...

We get treated to 93 here. I haven’t seen a pump with anything higher in years.

will 93 give me more power and mpg?

Yes. I think 87 pulls timing and a little boost. Even at part throttle it's a noticeable difference. I only use premium while towing because power in regular is usually adequate, if not joy inducing.

Regular when not on a road trip or towing then it’s Premium.

In my work yard I fill up with Regular. But when I am travelling, I use 94 octane. Can really tell the difference imo. Oh and I selected 2 options in the poll. 87 and +90 octane.

I mostly run hi test. From time to time I'll add 87 to my half tank of hi test.
When traveling or towing I always use hi test.... I love my 4x4 Expedition!

i didn't know it was so simple, i just thought the platinum versions had a different air intake etc to make the 400 hp.
Nope. We also have a '14 Lincoln MKT with EB. If I use premium I get 365hp, if I don't then I am detuned to about 345 or something.

Honestly, for most they wouldn't really notice. I have been driving EB since about 2010 when I bought a Flex Limited with EB. Total sleeper car, basically a SHO wagon. So 10 years in EB cars, I can feel the difference when 94 octane is used vs 87. But that's just me.

All EB Motor Power Ratings are based on 93. Anything less means less power.

The EB motors are tuned from the Factory for 93, anything less means there is knock, and the motor is pulling timing. You can log and VERY clearly see the difference. Even 93 under heavy load and high temps has knock and pulls timing on a stock tune.

If you really want to feel the power mix a few Gallons of E85 into a full tank. Even stock tuning can take advantage of a little. You will feel the difference especially under sustained load.

Expedition XLT/Limited EB power ratings are based on 89. Look it up.

And you would be wrong...

This is Fords own site, that says Premium.

Other parts of Ford’s site for other vehicles specifically mention 93.

And here is a 3rd Party test from Car & Driver...

https://www.caranddriver.com/features/a28565486/honda-cr-v-vs-bmw-m5-ford-f-150-dodge-charger/

F-150 Limited with the HO 2nd Gen 3.5TT is one of the 4 tested.

If you are running less than 93 in any EB Motor you are not getting your monies worth.

When I did my testing on my 17 Expy, the improvement in MPG made up for the price difference, plus I always had more power under my right foot. No brainer to me!
