@Vipersinu2 not sure why I can't see 90% of your posts all of a sudden. Is this the same for anyone else? I see you quoted Timmytan, but can't see anything that you typed. Wondering if it's because I'm not on the tapatalk app? Dunno, but it's annoying! :)

I was asking how many miles on your truck when the cam phasers and trubo were replaced?

Correct me if i'm wrong, but weren't cam phasers one of the most common and potentially catastrophic problems on the previous-gen Expeditions? (I had a '12 Expedition Limited before my current '19 Limited)

If that's the case, did FoMoCo seriously not address this problem at all when they redesigned for the current-gen?
General Motors make a Eco-Tech engine that has similar Cam Phaser and timing chain issues. This design needs religious maintenance. However, The Coyote, has not had a major failure with them. Most of them get run hard in Mustangs. I think Ford knows, people having this issue are maxing out oil changes and using cheapo filters.

I think you are right. I don’t know if all Ford dealers do this but mine use to offer 3 oil and filter changes for $79.99. It’s now $99.99 for 3 and it expires in one year. I asked the service manager how they make any money on that deal. He said the usual, bulk pricing, super fast tech’s and customer appreciation. He also said if you own a EcoBoost and want it to run good and last a long time, 5000 miles is the sweet spot. You don’t need catch cans, high dollar oil or any of that crap. Just keep the oil clean and new. I have done this with my last two EB’s and never had a problem with the engine. Knock on the plastic engine cover for luck. Probably jinxed myself.

The guys on yellow bullet say not to go over 5k miles and to stay under 550hp if you want life out of an eco boost

I have to say that my truck has the updated parts since it’s an August build and it sounds like a hammer factory for first minute or two. It doesn’t sound like the videos I’ve seen posted of phaser failure. It’s a loud engine.

used to be stuff had air pumps that came on during initial start up and I wonder if this engine uses one as well?

When we had a 2010 Flex (factory ordered) whenever you would open the door the fuel pump or fuel system (IIRC) would pressure up. You could hear a slight whine for about 2-3 seconds. Perfectly normal. I do not hear that with the Expy.

Well I took in in Monday and I heard back today that it is the cam phaser (which is what I told them and took audio/video off issue). There is some part that is back ordered because of all the failures... hopefully this doesn't take too long.

2018 with only 48000 miles and I'm getting cam phasers and timing chain replaced next week . I've had the cold start tickety-tick noise on and off and while on a road trip to ID last week, the engine light came on. This now very long in the tooth issue with stretched timing chains and cam phasers is a really poor reflection on Ford and their Engineering group. Seriously, there is GOBS of internet traffic regarding this issue going back nearly a decade.... WTF!!

While I thankfully purchased the Premium Care extended warranty (Flood ESP), will get a free loaner, and am only out $100, but I hate having this extent of work done a brand new car. If Ford had to reimburse customers for their time to/from and sitting dealerships, they'd be broke - FLAT BROKE. The job takes 3-4 days primarily because the sealant has to dry that long.

I was told by the service specialist that the replacement parts are a new/improved design, though I haven't been able to find anything on that specifically. Does anyone know whether this is fact or fiction and what exactly has been changed?
