Ford media web site shows no major Expedition changes for 2021. The rumors of a hybrid, with a V6 'powerboost' engine. If things couldn't get worse...

Haha. Cause a hybrid would be bad why? My contractor friends are REALLY excited about the hybrid 150 and it’s “generator” capability. They love that for most smaller jobs they won’t need their additional generator.

I may need to take the wife for a brain scan..

We were talking about how nice the 2021 F150 upgrades would be if they made it into the Expeditions and she said why not just get one now and if we like the upgrades in 3-4 years when the redesign rolls out just trade it in for a new one. This gentlemen, is proof aliens are taking over and I may have a pod wife...

So curious why ford sits so long on expedition/Navi models? They got DESTROYED by GM for doing so and now they are about to enter their 4th model year and not even rumors of a “mid cycle” refresh out there?

You can’t really say “it’s what the customer wants” when the last gen expys and Navi’s were stapled to dealership floors for the last couple years prior to the new models...

With that said...first...everyone take a deep breath. I love the current expy/Navi’s and really enjoy having a more unique ride that every uber/livery doesn’t use. But I’ll dump Ford like a hot stone if they think a light refresh in year 6+ is going to cut it.

So your OK having hybrid as the 'only' option? How many Expedition owners need a mobile generator? The competition Has 2 V8s and a 30mpg diesel. Who is Ford marketing the Expedition to? Not the loyal base.

It took him how long to mention a V8?

The 5.3 GM is a dog. It is slow, and way underpowered for any modern full size SUV. The 2nd Gen 3.5TT EB can run with any 6.2, and tuned can eat it for dinner.

The Hybrid adds improvements in MPG where the Expy needs it, in the City.

Having the power options would be amazing. Takes the Utility of the SUV to a whole other level. I think many people would find it as a great option. Run fans and speakers and things camping or tailgating.

I personally do Tech work out of mine, as do many others. Having power to run and charge things. Good stuff!

Didn’t even discuss the diesel. Don’t get me started on Ford’s sorry excuse for a 1/2 Ton diesel.

The 6.7 in the SuperDuty’s while incredibly complicated with Tech is an amazing motor. The 3.0 is old, underpowered, and just not up to the task.

The new Baby Duramax is a beast! Ford needs to step it up in general in that respect. If Ford put a newer small Powestroke under the hood of the Expedition I would be all about it.

I digress, sorry. Miss my 6.0, and my TDI!

The 5.3l is a 'underpowered' 355hp and 6.2l 420hp. Explain how a 375hp (only on premium fuel) is going to eat it. The 3.5l is probably around 340hp on 87 octane.

I said tuned it would eat it, but I know reading comprehension is hard for you.

Powerband on the EB(470lbft) is MUCH lower, peak torque happens 600 RPM sooner, is flatter, and peak is about the same as the 6.2(460lbft) stock. You do realize all of GM’s power numbers are gotten with 93 too right? They lose a little power when running 87 also.

When we were shopping SUV’s in 2015, we drove all kinds. My wife loved the Tahoe, but at the time you couldn’t get the 6.2. She drove it, she even thought it was underpowered. Put her in the 2015 Expedition with the 1st Gen 3.5TT, and you could immediately feel the advantage in torque that the EB brought to the table. The 2nd Gen(2018+) EB’s are even better.

GM V8s do not need to run 93 octane. I am not acknowledging any 'tuning' nonsense. I am sure the LS could be easily tuned. Stock on stock only. I am am sure your wife is an automotive expert, like you. I would take 355hp and no cam phasers any day. The 2018 Escalade I drove, by no means was under powered. The 2017 Expedition I drove,by no means, was that fast.

Haha. Now you keep mixing crap again. Escalade is the higher rated 6.2. My comment was 5.3 equipped Tahoe at the same trim level as the cheaper same trim level EL 2015 Expedition. We chose the Expedition.

Dude, you are seriously dense. GM gets their power ratings with 93, just like Ford. You are truly clueless.

You think a tuned 3.5 is going to beat a tuned 6.2?

Hmmmm

I have had the GM 6.2 and the Navi. Hands down the 6.2 with the 10 speed is the more satisfying setup.

Stock for Stock in 2019 Motortrend tested a Escalade and a Navi, both at 5.9 0-60. That is a better comparison. As you know the Navi is running the HO 3.5 2nd Gen.

Tune only on 93 a 6.2 might gain 30HP and 30lb/ft, The HO EB can easily gain 75HP and 90lb/ft. So yeah, I think so.

I ran against my cousins 2018 Denali(6.2) many times in the 17. Stock he could get me, but even with my Hypertech tune I could beat him.

The 6.2 is a strong motor. I love the way it sounds, but tune for tune, the Turbo will always gain more.

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro[/QUOTe GM does not need to run 93 to make advertised power. I know this, because 93 octane is not available in all states. Ford recommends 91 or higher for maximum performance in the Expy. CAFE testing is done with a 90 octane, benzine type fuel for consistency. Lokiwolf is posting false info and talking out hisass.
93 octane not available in all states. You testing 'theory' is BS. GM wouldn't advertise if it needed it to make the numbers. The 6.2l in Escalade is not different than ones in the other models. Maybe it's a different tune, but power is the same.

You have no clue. CAFE testing has NOTHING to do with power ratings! CAFE is only MPG. Seriously. Yes it is done with the exact same fuel in all manufacturers vehicles. One company provides it.

Power Ratings are done by the manufacturer and have ZERO to do with CAFE. Ford specifically tells you their power ratings are gotten using 93 Octane. Doesn’t matter that it isn’t available everywhere.

Please keep going. This is fun.

Well I think you're pretty swell Loki! And if a person actually reads what you wrote, I would agree with your statements. I have had the 5.3 Tahoe and a 6.2 Escalade (although only the 403hp and no 10 speed) and although I never did 0-60 tests, the passing power of my Expy is quite impressive. I miss the rumble of the 6.2l and I do feel like it was a rock solid power plant.
