Thought I'd share recent upgrade and make it easier for someone down the road...

Just replaced the high beam, low beam, and fogs with 6k (white) LEDs. WOW what a difference. Here's the links to what I purchased if anyone's interested, all from SEALIGHT. Cost me about $75 total (for all three) with some sales and such Amazon had. Install was EXTREMELY easy. Remove 2 screws from wheel liner under the wheel well/fender, peel back the liner slightly, reach in and pull rubber seal(s) off the rear, remove light(s), unplug, reverse the order and done. For the fogs, just poke your head underneath the front end (crawler helps) and unplug, remove light, and replace with new.

Question here, I have a platinum which I believe already has LED's. Was looking to change the fog lights to the amber LED's but after poking around under there, it looks like they are sealed units and you can't replace the LED bulbs, you have to replace the entire assembly, anyone know if that's true? Would pretty convenient to tell a customer you can't replace a $10 bulb but have to replace a $250 unit, should the LED's fail.

Hopefully someone with a Limited can poke their head underneath and provide some insight or maybe already knows. Mine is an XLT so they were halogen to begin with so obviously have to have the option of replacing bulbs. Mine just turned and slid out like any halogen bulb. Have you looked at a diagram of the assembly, not sure if it would show if the bulb carries a part number separate from the assembly itself?!

I would suggest AUXITO, ZDATT, JKCOVER, or Hikari they work fantastically and cause no interference. Also for led turnsignals use SOCAL switchbacks for the front and jdmastar for the rear

Not sure what you mean by that, can you be more specific? I am a guru when it comes to led lighting so any question you have I can probably answer and even tell you what bulbs your vehicle takes

With factory LED's you do usually have to replace the whole assembly, if it has the standard plug between led and non led units then replace your assemblies with halogen assemblies and then install whatever leds you want in there.

When I click on the link for the fog lights, Amazon says it does not fit my 2019 Ford Expedition. Did you install these fog lights and it worked? I have a 2019 Expy XLT. Thanks much.

So no that is incorrect your expy uses 9140. I would buy the Auxito 9140 or the zdatt 9005 (interchangeable). I would actually go with all of auxito for fog, low & high or zdatt for the same. A benefit of the zdatt is it comes with color filters so you can change between 3500/4000K, 6000K, & 8000K color temperatures

Unfortunately, and I'm not sure why, Amazon fitment guide is not always correct. I purchased those exact LEDs for my fogs, in fact that is the link from my "Orders History" from my Amazon account. They fit my 2020 XLT perfect. The links I provided are EXACTLY what is installed on my 2020 XLT.

Actually, yes it is correct... Amazon in this case was wrong. Another note... be careful just ordering a "9140". I did that the first time and contrary to what you might have thought - it was the WRONG fitment. The 9140 does not specify what base type is used to screw into the assembly. So that is the important part. For the fogs on my 2020, you want the H8. That (H8) is also the same base fitment as the H9 and H11. Originally, I ordered a 9140 H10 and the "H10" is not the correct base fitment although the foglight bulb number was 9140. So be careful!

These are the ones I ordered originally (under the belief I should just look for "9140"). Note they have "9140" in the description. They had to be returned because the base fitment is "H10" instead of H8/H9/H11. The links I provided above will get you want you need - promise ;)

Seems like there's plenty of misinformation floating around - just to be clear... the links provided are simply what I am sharing that I've already replaced my halogens with. They work flawlessly, no interference, no flickering, no nothing but nice bright white light. They are WAY brighter than the OEM Halogens. The high beam and low beams come with the external driver for no radio interference, they are Canbus-ready. I do quite a bit of research before purchasing things, read the reviews and compare to others - these get great reviews... highly recommend :waytogo:

1000RR, thanks for sharing your experience. This halogen - LED bulb switch is confusing to an old-timer like myself who hasn't bothered to modify a car in decades. That said, the stock headlights on my XLT Max are horrendous on dark stretches of interstate highway, so I need to do something. Are you confident that the LEDs (low beam) are not affecting oncoming drivers?

John I - greetings!

I just did the swap from halogens to LED headlights in my '20 XLT. I've only driven a couple of times at night since then, but I don't believe there was a problem with blinding oncoming drivers. If the bulb is properly oriented in the socket (and reflector), the beam has a sharp horizontal cutoff below the sight level of opposing traffic.

Along with Jeff, I have not seen an issue. The low beams are projection style headlights not the reflector (old school like me, I too am a bit older than the average here I suspect) type. So the projector type play nicer with LEDs to begin with in directing the light path. As Jeff mentioned, the LED design also helps to some degree, but ultimately the projector assembly takes care of it.

Not that you won't have the onsie twosie that just want to flash their brights at you... I've had that on occasion in many cars with projectors or HIDs.

Good quality LEDs are much, much better than the stock bulbs. If you drive in the city, or suburban areas, you may not see such a big difference. Rural areas with little to no lighting, except the moon and stars, you will see a great improvement.

So from what I found using his expy info his is a 9140/9005/hb3. I haven't looked up the newer ones yet. For any and all bulb referencing I do I use sylvanias guide.

Anthony, please don't make this harder than it is and confuse the matter... the "9140" does NOT indicate one of the most important parts of ensuring proper fitment when it comes to LEDs. Besides the "9140", you NEED the base style. There are 9140 H10 bulbs, there are 9140 H11 bulbs, etc. Both of these will NOT fit the other, two different base styles. If you simply choose a replacement foglight based on "9140" you may in fact end up with the wrong bulb base (H10 vs H11, etc.). "9140" relates to the output (wattage) of a Halogen bulb (they are lower wattage, which makes sense given they're a Fog).

The intent of this thread is to provide EXACTLY what I purchased and what DOES work, nothing more nothing less. If someone duplicates what I purchased in the links of Post #1, they are set.

Has anyone tried to put the 07-14 expy headlights (single beam h13) on the 15-17 expys (split beam 9005 high & h11 low)? If not do you think it can be done? I would like to transfer my existing h13 leds over which work really well but my expy headlights are the split beam low & high

Can you provide a link for 9140 H11’s? Ive never heard of such a thing before. 9140’s are the same base as a HB3 or 9005 not h11 - h11 is about half the size base as that of an hb3/9005920e8bdb03335595ece8467e1692cd32.jpg
