FYII just had quite a scare! I updated my Tapatalk app and lost all of my discussions about this project. I’m not sure what is going on with the app, but I finally found this thread again on the website.

Thank you! I sure hope this forum does not become less active due to this. I have gotten a huge amount of help and wonderful advice and encouragement here!
I've never worked on Navs, but this is making me scratch my head. Your chain on the left side looks like it's in the same position as the right chain is on it's cam. Is the chain guide on it's correct side? Because from that particular angle, it looks like the guide is upside down, and your groove where the chain sits is on the bottom insteadI just had quite a scare! So, I have an issue! I went out today to get the right side camshafts back in place. I totally forgot I had the camshaft position holding tool when I took the secondary chain off so it slipped out of position from the tension on it. I put the old chain and gears back on, put the holding tool on, then moved it into the correct position with a small pipe wrench right next to the holding tool, then tightened the holding tool. It stayed in place.
Now I have hit a snafu! I put the new tensioner, chain and gears back on. The chain is only about halfway on the tensioner (right side). The new parts are the same as the old (I checked) and the other side (left side) went perfectly. I stared at it for quite some time and can’t figure out what is amiss! The old chain and gears sit same way (it’s the old parts in the pics). What the heck am I missing? It has to be something stupid!
It is a head scratcher and I know it has to be something simple that I’m just not noticing. The guides can only go on one way and that is what has me perplexed. You can’t even mix up the right and left bc they bolt on differently. I will take some pics of how it bolts up without the chain so you can get a better look. I know it’s right side up (even if I could have gotten it on upside down) bc I remember the plunger part being on the bottom of both of them when I took them off. Here are the pics of old and new tensioners. The kit is a melling kit.Just for trial does it fit as it should if you use the old tensioner on that side ? But it does look like the problem is with that new tensioner on that side. What brand are they?
Old and new sprockets sit the same. I know that chain needs to sit completely on the tensioner guide. I just can’t figure out why it’s not. I have to be missing something……..but what?!!Ok, what's left, sprockets ?
