Out of the blue with 105,000 miles, my 2018 Expedition Platinum 10 speed transmission is performing erratically. Sometimes it acts fine, others it is slow to shift gears, other times it clunks, and sporadically it just doesn't make a shift for about 5 seconds. It is completely untrustworthy, so I took it to a transmission shop, only to be told it must be an internal pump malfunction, but with no available parts from Ford, a new $3500 transmission will need to be installed. I find it hard to believe that a transmission that sometimes works perfectly normal, would need to be replaced. Any thoughts?
