I recently purchased a new 2024 XLT that was a loaner car with 3,200 miles on it. Everything works great and we love the car, except for one thing.

When the door opens, the fuel pump primes which is to be expected. At the end of the process, a squeaky noise happens. That noise drives me crazy and I can't figure out exactly what it is to tell the dealership. VIDEO LINK

I took it back to dealership and told them about it. They said it was part of the process and couldn't hear the squeak since it was so loud in the shop. I showed them a couple videos and they said it should go away after a while. It has not.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

I don't hear anything unusual in your video.

It's possible that you are hearing a pressure relief valve that releases pressure at the end of the pump pre-start cycle.

I hear the same noise all the time. I wondered what it was, but really, I don't care at all. Thank you for letting me it is caused by the fuel pump priming. lol

I can definitely hear that squeek right at the end. Bring her to a different Ford dealer that doesnt have alot of noise in the background? Thats such an unacceptable excuse they gave you! lol

"oh, we dont hear it because its too loud in here due to all the failed Fords being worked on" They could have just went with "thats a normal sound" excuse

Thank you all for the responses. I didn't even think about taking it to a different dealership, was thinking that I had to bring it to where I bought it.

@SyndicateZ they definitely did say that was a normal noise, lol. Many people think I am talking about the fuel pump primer sound. I have to tell them I understand that noise and quite frankly it's a beautiful sound and process to hear. It's just the end part where it does a high pitch squeaking sound.

For those who can't hear the squeaking or high pitched noise, here is another video.

My 2018 has done that since it was brand new. It's gotta pump the fuel, it's not an EV! Mine is 6-7 years old and the fuel pump has never been an issue/problem. Still does that same noise to this day. I'd be more concerned about the exhaust noise.....

I can definitely hear that squeek at the end, and thats a squeek for sure. Not the priming noise . If ford says its normal just make sure they have that diagnosis on the slip so you can present that in the future that u tried to warn them for if it does fail or get louder in the future and rip them a new one! Hey, atleast u have a warranty and covered for if it does fail, etc.

test drive another 2024 xlt and try to replicate?
