This is what my dealer told me. Once the vehicle is built it is invoiced to the dealer. The dealer starts paying "floor planning" interest on the invoiced vehicle. Further the vehicle goes into the system and is assigned a stock number. Generally with a Ford dealer the vehicle will also show up on Autotrader at that point. Seems like the dealers are getting screwed. However as most Ford dealers are jackwagons, selling stock cars over sticker, prioritize building to stock rather than order with allocations etc I wouldn't feel to bad for them.
