2023 with 15 inch screen - press and turn volume ring!?!?

So I found a feature that I didn't see in the manual. I have the 15 inch screen. While listening to the radio I can push the ring inward and turn it one click and I end up on a mostly blank screen with the date, time, and a few icons.

What is this called?

What else can pushing the ring do?

I don't even know what to search for in the manual.

Just pushing the ring for a couple seconds without turning will also call up that screen; pushing for a couple seconds again returns to previous screen.
