Those specs also claim 20mpg for the 5.4l. Yeah, I don't think so. Page 2, just says 320hp, not 320 using E85

Read the fine print...you know those little numbers. You can learn a lot...

Good for you dude. Must have the lame-o 3.08 gears and drive like a granny.

Extended Length models have 3.73s. 6R has two overdrive gears and lockup clutch function in all forward gears 2-6. Saves gas, improves performance. But yeah, it’s just lame-o, dumb, and I’m a douche.

And there’s the @rjdelp7 we all know and love. When his “facts” and “info” fail...he starts insulting the Expeditions he doesn’t own.

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro[/QUOTE I find it amusing, they don't say what the engine really makes on pump gas. Ford didn't offer the 5.0l Mustangs in those years, with E85 capable. Strange considering the HP wars between the big 3. I don't think the Eco Boost can run it also.

Can the Eco Boost run E85(or Explorer). The 5.0l Mustang doesn't. I don't think the Shelby can run it. Corvette and Dodge Hemi don't. Strange, if it makes more power. Edmunds did a test of E85 and declare it's a total failure on almost every level.

No, the EB’s cannot run full E85 without a pump upgrade or tweaking the tuning. Technically you can run full E85, but the tune has to be turned back, you get more HP, but less Torque than say E50.

Turned fully up, E50 is the max on the EB Expeditions can run without a Pump upgrade like the ones from XDI.

The pump is the limitation. Flow has to be faster, and you max out the Pump, before you reach full power potential.

Willing to mix...the power advantage is there. I mix 93 and E85 to get to E50 on my Explorer.

My HD tow EL 4x2 is geared 3.31. It's in the tow guide and confirmed using the axle code.

I get 20 MPG all the time with my 5.4 on the highway cruising. It’s got 2 overdrive gears in a 6 speed dude.
They all have "overdrive", that means nothing, plus 6 speed doesn't affect highway MPGs either. You might have the best gears in that truck in final drive for MPGs but taller gears don't automatically mean better MPGs. One step higher ratio than that could diminish your gas mileage. It's the final drive that counts on the hiway so 6 speeds and 2 OD's has nothing to do with anything here.

The 5.4 was never mated with 3.31s in the EL models. 3.73 was the only option 07-14 but 3.31 became available on 2WD models for the EcoBoost. 4WD EL EcoBoosts are also all 3.73.

Huh? That is exactly what Overdrive’s are designed for!

Yes, under certain circumstances lugging in too high an overdrive can decrease MPG, but on flat ground OD increases MPG.

IF OD’s did not help with MPG, why does the 10Spd have additional? Even on the 5.0...

Moving on.
