Just for another crazy quirk, Yesterday I was reading up on the fact that if you open the doors, the "Fake engine noises" shuts off, so I popped the door open a jar at about 5 mph and was ready to step on the gas and listen, but instead the F'd up computer threw it into park while it was still going 5 mph and basically tried to shear the "pin" off inside the transmission as it clicked and stripped to a stop. I funny understand that the door open at speed is bad, but I don't need it to tear up my transmission trying to babysit me, soooo stupid.
BTW when the engine sounds are OFF, it is SOOOO much quieter. I'm going to delete this stupid roar that they pump thru the speakers.

How do you turn off the stupid sounds?

The ACC on the Expy is fantastic. Drove through downtown Atlanta today and it does a wonderful job of slowing when needed and accelerating back to the set speed when traffic allows. At no time does it slam on the brakes when a car pulls in front of you so long as the car is matching or exceeding your speed. Not sure why there are comments on this happening though it seems the person is commenting on their experience with a 6 year old vehicle of a different model. The driver assist features on this are fantastic so far.

I generally agree. My only complaint is approaching a stopped car (I.e. I’m coming up to a red light with people already stopped)...it takes WAY too long to start applying the brakes and then has to hit them too hard. Freaks my wife out when she’s with me and she always says “you’re letting the car drive for you again, aren’t you?!”

The only time I let the car do all the stopping is when I’m in traffic, it’s amazing! Thankfully I don’t often get caught in bumper to bumper. For red lights I do it the old fashioned way.

Already done this. Forscan is great!

Is there a way to stop the auto shift into park when the door is opened but still allow it when you press the start/stop button?

If you open the driver's door with your seat belt off, it will automatically shift into park. I do this when I launch my boat. I find it difficult to wear a seat belt when backing a trailer. I wear it at all other times.

Weird. Thanks. I'll try that at a red light.

Ha! That's a much better idea. No idea why my brain sent me RED LIGHT as the ideal scenario for a transmission test.

Confirmed! It shifts into park upon opening the door with your seat belt off. Not that anyone other than me needed confirmation.

Actually it's good to know. Did you test whether you can leave the door open after it goes into park and put in back in gear and stay there? I've backed up many a time with it open to line up or look for something that was on the ground near the driver's side of the vehicle that the side mirror couldn't see. A large rock on the side of a driveway comes to mind and a tree stump on another time.

I'm betting this is a nanny safety feature to overcome those that have gotten out of their cars while still in gear causing an accident. I've seen a friend of mine chase his car once. Luckily he got back in before it hit something.

I've tried that. With the door open and no seatbelt, the Expi shifts into park automatically as everyone states. I just reached over and shifted back into gear while still leaving the door open, where it stayed in gear until I shifted it into park.

Used the ACC for the first time in town today, I was really nervous and had to really try to resist the urge to brake every time.....but it worked like a charm!

It’s so weird, feels totally wrong at first but having used it in traffic a few times now I don’t think I’ll ever go back.

Me neither! And I only used it on the Northside of Spokane, I can imagine how useful it would be in a larger town

Hey! A fellow Spokane resident! I'm near Bigelow/Argonne.
I use my ACC on the freeway and outside of town as well. Generally don't use it in town that much as people are unpredictable and I don't want to follow them through the red lights.
Cool thing I liked was how amazing the cruise control handled the roundabouts! I expected it to be jumpy and heavy on the throttle when the car in front was at enough of an angle that it wasn't in front of me anymore. Nope! The Expedition handled it like it was programmed specifically for easy going driving.

Nice! But I’m actually outside of Spokane in Deer Park. Our roundabouts are too small to try the ACC lol
