Hey guys,

Been lurking here for awhile. Got my new 04 and so far, very happy with the ride. As with most people, unhappy with the Brake Dust residue. I was aware of this issue prior to buying, but didn't know it was this bad! Anyway, called back to Koons Ford in Falls Church and talked to a service rep about it. He checked on the Service Bulletins and promptly called me back 15 minutes later! He said, "we are aware of this issues and will have the new pad kits in next week, would you like me to schedule you?" I said yes, but is there any charge to me? He replied "No sir, I'm gonna make Ford pay for it" he continued with "This problem has been identified by Ford and they have a fix for it. Your Expy is an 04 and should have gotten the newer shoes even though it was produced before Dec 18th 2003".

He did say that the service manager is warning all who take the new pads that they will wear on the rotors harder than the "dirty" pads. So bottom line, Koons Ford is doing the swap out at no charge to the individual. If your dealer is not making you happy, contact the next one and try there. Ford should make this right and so far, Koons Ford is!

I'll REALLY be impressed if Koons Ford replaces brake pads free of charge on the 2003 Expeditions.

I spoke to my rep on the pads last week. He informed me that the pads were made of ceramic. He put a set on his Expedition and said it has elaminated the dust problem. For those who have to pay for the pads the price is around $230.00 List. That is for all 4 wheels. I placed a order with Ford and as of Thursday the pads are on Backorder. I figured I would put a few sets in stock just in case. When I checked with the local auto parts stores their ceramic pads were around 85-100 per axle so I am going to give a 20% discount to any paying customers that need them.

I have an appointment this eve to have my pads replaced. I am going with the newer version which have less dust. By the way, I only have 21k miles and the pads are nearly gone.

My 2003 Eddie Bauer is in right now and the dealer is trying to tell me it is no worse than any other car despite the special service message. What should I do next?
They are replacing the clutch packs in the limited slip rear which seems to be a big problem. They were grinding already in the 1st 500 miles I drove it.
