No, the Platinum does not have the Raptor motor that the Navigator does. Non Platinums get 375 HP, Platinums 400, then the Navigators get the 450 HP Raptor motor.

correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought any trim level, Limited or higher, comes standard with the HD Tow Package

That ended with the 4th gens, unfortunately. Before 2018 that was true, at least for 2015 through 2017. I've reviewed the brochures for those years.

I own a '17 Expedition Limited. 4 wheel drive with tow package. I should say, the rear Gearbox with out twice in 60,000 miles. I think it was because i used the tow mode to control the speed up hill and down. I also have a problem with the front end jumping around in the 4L mode. I had this with my F150 as well. you might do some research on it before you buy.

Pretty sure the 17 is a totally different vehicle than the 18-21

Also could be more related to what or how much you were towing in tow mode, rather than just using tow mode.

Lots of trashed wheel bearings, rear ends and gear boxes out there from being dunked in flooded road crossings also. Most people who drive through deep water rarely ever service their diffs and gear boxes after doing silly stuff like that.
In college we had a huge flood right when most people were returning to campus in January. By summer break nearly every kid I knew had some kind of gear failure you name it every brand vehicle was covered. I drained and refilled my stuff after getting to school yeah full of flood water. Water makes for lousy gear oil.

In response to the original poster. Also keep an eye out for the Special Edition Package 2018, 2019 or 2020. It’s essentially a limited 302a with CCD, tow package and the Stealth Wheels for a small discount.

Easily recognized in pictures on used car websites as you’ll see the 22” black stealth wheels but the front grill will still be chrome and it won’t have the blacked out exterior bits.

Someone on this site made me aware of this package and I miraculously found one CPO and snagged it from 300 miles away.
