When the drivers door is open the door ajar light goes off, when I close the door the "door ajar" pings and the interior lights come on. Also my stereo system is making a ping at the same time. Somehow it must be related but I'm stumped. Any ideas or links for a fix?

Most likely the driver's door jamb switch is bad ( very common ). You have to get to the door latch to replace it. If you have a laptop and the ForScan app you look at the individual doors to confirm which switch is bad. Once you get the latch free, a quarter turn releases the door jamb switch. When you order, make sure you get the correct side of the vehicle. There is a difference between the left and the right side.

Ham, I’m new to Forscan, I have used other scan tools, and also have the door ajar error on an 03 expy. I have no idea which door so is using the forscan tool easy to figure out the door?

Yes, just select the pids for each door and cycle the doors. You'll see Forscan indicate door open or closed.

Just to help anyone else. Close all the doors and wait until the inside lights go out. Open a door and if the lights come on, that door is good. Find the door that does not trigger the interior lights. That is the one that always stays ajar. Now if I could only fix mine.
