My dealer in Daly City wanted a fortune because I didn't have a second key already, Dumb! If I had second key, why do you need a third? I went to ace hardware next town from Daly City, they made me a second one for $75.00, way cheaper than dealer, works great, mine is 2000 Eddie Bauer. Hope that helps.

No special tricks, bring the key to a reputable locksmith and they will make a copy for you.

Buy a chipped key and have it cut. then read pages 54 and 55 in your owners manual

The following applies to the 1st gen Expy's

The 97 and 98 expys ONLY need one programed key to make extra keys The 99 thru 2002 require TWO programed keys in order to make extra keys

Do you mean two originally made, or two in front of you. I only had the one, the hardware store made number 2. What you said about having two, was what my parts guy said at the Ford dealer. My SUV is 2000. Go to any locksmith or Ace hardware if after 98.

once again, sounds like Walmart comes to the rescue... which is either a good thing or a bad thing... depends on how you like your goods made in China these days!

Was at a Walmart this morning And the one I went to doesn't do it So maybe some do and some don't

Perhaps, we aren't a very big city but that is where I got mine. They have a special machine here that cut the key. Now, they only had 1 blank so maybe that is the kicker.

I bought a cut transponder key from the dealer UNPROGRAMMED for $16. He even cut a blank that I had.

So if it's for your third key that you can program yourself, thats one option. I didn't think it would be so cheap from the dealer.
