Glad to see you were able to get something installed for a reasonable price. If you don't mind me asking, what was your go/no-go price? Just curious what people would be willing to pay for OEM LED lamp assemblies vs aftermarket HIDs/LEDs in the factory halogen lamp assemblies.

I don’t believe the led headlights are plug and play. There is a plug on them that doesn’t exist on the halogen housings. This is something I really want to upgrade on mine, only feature I wanted that wasn’t available when I bought it. It really might need a new harness, but I’m not really willing to spend the 2-3000 on parts quite yet.

I did swap to led replacement bulbs, and if people are worried about how much effort it takes, don’t be!! All you have to do it unbolt the fender liners, reach in and swap bulbs. You can get to both headlights and the fogs, easily. I couldn’t get to the smaller bulbs this way to swap for leds, but that isn’t really important.

Don’t pay a dealer hundreds of dollars for what you can do in ten minutes.
Factory halogen bulbs and no fancy drl strip is a joke on a 70k truck. Ford should have made them standard across the line.

$600, but it was a bit more than that.
$600 for lights? On a $70k vehicle? What a waste of money... I can give you 100 different ways you could’ve better spent that money

Just joined, I see you troll a ton of 4th gen threads and I’m wondering why moderators put up with your bs. Doesn’t look like you have ever made a useful contribution.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions good or bad. As long as it is kept clean and somewhat professional it stays. Venture past the threshold and the member is warned, after that they are banned. Plain and simple.

Now the $600 for lights - all that matters is that rob4092xx is happy with them.

I just came here to share some of my mods and talk about others. It’s my first expedition so obviously I can only be the new guy here. Just seemed like every single thread I was reading had some nasty troll bs from him. I appreciate you taking care of it, makes this forum a better place.

Just keeping this alive- my fx4 didn't have the LED headlight option and I would like to add.

Asked at the dealer and they didnt have any interest in trying to figure it out- it sorta looks like the factory LED headlights may be plug and play - there self contained with all electronics and just plug in- was hoping to get this verified by someone who actually knows? Then the question is finding a dealer who will sell factory parts and a reasonable cost : )

I talked to a dealer in Dallas-Fort Worth, and they tried to put the same lights that are on a platinum, onto a XLT. I was told it did not work due to separate wiring harness. They ended up refunding the customer all the money for the lights.

Yeah that’s what I’m finding. I’ve been trying to look through the ford parts diagrams, but it might be part of a main wire harness. Maybe anzo will come out with some nice ones soon.

just purchased a 2018Expy XLT with FX4, Tow package, 202A, NAV, Driver Assistance & cargo package. Interested in replacing the halogen bulbs in headlights & foglights. Has anyone done this& if so did they work out OK?

New member here...are the regular projectors bad?? It does have auto-high beam (which is limited if you live in city). Is HID really needed? Or are the halogen projectors are of decent quality?

The factory halogen bulbs are a joke. I can’t believe they sell these trucks for as much as they do without the leds as standard.

I have a friend who has a newer dodge truck
He installed LED bulbs in his turn signals & now they flash much faster than normal
I expect the bulb current is monitored by the BCM
That is why I have asked if anyone has replaced the halogen headlight bulbs with LED bulbs
