So I have had to pull the fuse to take out the accessory lights. I have been looking into this issue and tried to wd40 the door latches however the door ajar light is not on and the lights still stay on. Is there anything else that this could be, or does this description confirm the GEM? I have a 2001 expedition with 185,000 miles. I thought it was the accessory switch earlier and that was not it. It started after a light rain and after driving a bit I parked and opened the rear passenger door and the lights went on and never turned off. The lights had not been coming on when doors opened.

My 2000 had that issue. I pulled the relay. When stepping on the brake, the door ajar light would go out. Eventually it resolved itself somehow and worked normal.

Relay

I am looking at a relay this afternoon because that makes sense to me and the cover came off of the top one. Running board lights and interior lights are on. The relay makes sense to me because the power is staying on. If there was a failure somewhere I think something would not work. rather than stay on like the relay is stuck closed.

NOT The relay though it was damaged. I replaced it anyway. I am going to work on the accessory switch. The lighting is as if the accessory switch was on....

NOT the accessory switch.

NOT the GEM (that sucks and risks breaking wires to fuse box) and is not cheap.

mechanic time. a short somewhere that I don't know how to track down.
