hello everyone,

The last week or so I have been having some issues with my headlight system.
The DRL will turn on and off on their own, flash repeatedly and then shut off, or go back to normal. Other times, when my turn signal is on, it too will stop flashing when the DRL or full headlights are on. Today, once the headlights stop flashing, one headlight went out and the other remained on as if it burnt out. The shop I took it to said they need to see it happen in order to know where to start. And of course, it was fine when we were there, and acted up again after we left.
Any help or info will be so greatly appreciated!
Thank you all in advance
TJ

Hey Chuck,

Ya I guess that would help eh! Hahaha thanks for pointing that out.

It’s an 08 expedition max limited
The headlights are also the DRL just a little dimmer than the full power headlight. ( I wish the fog lights could be the DRL like on the navigator)

Gators dont use fogs for DRL.

They got a separate independent yellow bulb for it.

And 3rd gen expeditions are supposed to be running blinkers as the DRL im pretty sure

PS oh...Canada. Your computer presets are different for lighting, not sure about actual hardware differences, but software wise, there's some canada lighting options in ForScan iirc. Something to do with local regulations, probably.

What I meant was, when the lights turn back on, only 1 came on and the other stayed off as if it were burnt out. It does eventually come back on so that both are on again.

IIRC, the 08 has a single bulb for both high and low beams. There are two filaments in them. The DRL is actually just the high beam on 1/2 power. You may have a loose connection somewhere or the bulbs maybe on their way out. Have you tried replacing them?

Considering the turn signal is possibly connected to this issue I would have a good hard look at the grounds for all of the front lighting. I'm not sure if they share a ground or not but if they do this could explain what makes the blinker come into play.

Thank you guys for your reply’s.
Jkayca, I have tried replacing them, but the issue continues.

I will certainly check into the grounds and wiring.

I’ll keep you posted.

Thanks again for the insight!

.
I was thinking loose connection also, good place to start.
Plugs may not be seated right ... I've also seen contact inside connectors faulty.

Not saying I know its that, just an item to check.

A voltmeter and wiring diagram are handy chasing these things.
(Bdrk would chime that in)

Hi Flexpedition.

No it’s both sides. In fact, it’s the entire lighting system including the dashboard lights, all at the same time.
