I was at Daytona when King Richard became airborne and flew up into the fence that protects the fans. There are a LOT of people at Daytona. There was instant total silence by 100% of the fans as they were only concerned about Richard at that point. Total relief came over the crowd when it was clear he was OK. I've never seen respect like that at any sports event.

I was at The Winston (Charlotte) when Dale came down across the track on the end of turn 4 and tried to take Bill Elliot out. Elliot hit the brakes and Earnhardt went into the grass infield then drove back out and they raced the final lap.

I was at Williamson when Albert Catalano got flipped upside down on the back straightaway and made it back to the front straightaway and inside the car of car guy who tried to kill him.

I wish I was at Watkins Glen when they burned the BUS in the BOG

I was at Darlington when Dale Sr. fell asleep at the beginning of the race and then rubbed against the wall for a lap. It was very odd, they said it wasn’t carbon monoxide poisoning at the time, but I can’t believe he could’ve fallen asleep right after the green dropped. I was never a Earnhardt fan but had respect for his accomplishments. I was also at the Daytona 500 when he hit the wall and died. It was a sad day in racing history that’s for sure.

I am checking to see if there are any other hillbilly rednecks on our forum. If you are a hillbilly you will know what happens when you “Pepsi” an engine or how to repair main crank bearings by using only a matchbook. Or, what to do with mothballs when ur trying to tune an engine for optimum power. Yep, I retired several years ago and am trying to keep myself occupied by asking and doing stupid stuff......the boss told me to find something to do an hour ago so here I am fellow forum members, hillbilly’s and rednecks.....make me proud!!!

Did anyone here watch Ozarks on Netflix? Apparently when a hillbilly is called a redneck ... someone is going to get killed. I always thought the terms were interchangeable. Have I been wrong all these years?!?!?!?

I watched and really liked that show. I didn't pick that up. Man to own a house on that waterfront out in the country! They could call me whatever they wanted.

I've never been bothered by name calling.

Now when the government decides to make my decisions for me, that's when I tend to bristle.

Ha ha! I think the drug people called the "farm" owner and his wife rednecks. The ol' lady went and got a riffle and blew him away. Her husband freaked.

Ok ... per the internet ....Hillbilly is much less derogatory. Farmers ect. Think Beverly Hillbilies.

Redneck is the more derogatory of the two. Think Nascar ... car on blocks living in a trailer home. (per the internet and not the view of the gentlemen posting this thread)

I can't wait for the new season!

Before the Nascar race on Sunday, they were showing the racers from California, their was like 6 of them. Surprised the hell out of me. Thought all but Jeff Gordon, came from the South. Learned something new on Sunday. Theirs a bit of redneck in all of us. Don't tell me when you were 16, and had a hot 2nd cousin, maybe a 1st, you didn't get exited? Don't matter what part of the country, 16, 17, is a tough time.

I was playing spin the bottle with my cousins and others behind the house at the family reunion when I was 14. Had the hots for one (well maybe two) of my "cousins" for years.
Finally about 10 years later go to see her again and took her to dinner. Things didn't work out the way I planned....rather odd actually but I told her bye and drove back home 350 miles.
Knew she was a player and damn if she didn't call me right after I got home and sweet talk me. I came across like a sucker but thought she would "try a little harder" in person to lead me on....but oh well. Haven't seen or talked to her since. I was busy gettin busy here.

Not really me cousin...but a relative. But cousin would have been fine too.
She was the grand daughter of my dad's half sister by marriage.
She was a hottie though.. I mean I went for the best looking girl there. Apparently so had a lot of other people. Me, not so much at the time, but I was just getting started. I have no room to talk now. But I wouldn't change a thing, as a matter of fact, if I had life to do over a gain and new what I knew now....this is what we always say right.....I wouldn't worry about the things other people talk about doing over. I would have one mission...I would end up knocking up girls in high school. My school, other high schools....wherever.
It would be bad!
I had NO idea how to play the game back then. I didn't even know how to talk to girls and ask them out even NOT playing a game....even if I liked them.
If I had it to do over I would be ridiculous.
Absolutely ridiculous.
I passed up so many opportunities with girls because I was too dumb, or shy, or slow to jump in there and "ride that ride with a smile".
I have some good stories later in life and enjoyed every damn one of them and wished there were more, but this didn't happen until I was 23 and it was for a very short time...cause as what usually happens....either it falls off, or you fall in love.
Luckily it was just love for me. Even had another girl lined up from friends or mine that I had seen a few weeks before and they had something going on and told me GUESS WHAT..Sally's going to be there. I wanted nothing more in the world a few weeks before that to say..."Lay down! Sally" but I had met my fiancee about two weeks before and proposed that in the first 48 hours I met her.
I had to go to the function by myself (fiancee at college) and had to be a perfect gentleman around Sally. I think they wondered what the hell was wrong with me because I had specifically asked what Sally's "deal" was before. They set me up and I like ran as much as I could.
Strange things in love....
