Well I stand corrected. My apologies. After further research, I was trying to compare these rear differentials to the same systems that the F150 has but, that's incorrect. I didn't realize these Expeditions have an eLSD and Locker capability built into one differential. That really makes me ask the question, why they wouldn't put this differential in the F150's to give best of both worlds with an LSD and locker.

Again, my apologies.
Locked mode is simply the eLSD clutches squeezed at a high pressure. It simulates a locker. I’m not sure if a high enough torque differential would allow it to slip.

Because they share nothing in rear axle components......

I have a 2024 Stealth Performance Limted with a 3L sticker on the door as well. After reading all of this thread, I still don't know what I actually have :)

Seems to be some sort of LSD, but I've yet to look at it to see if it has any sort of actuator or if it's just a brake actuated LSD.

Do you have a button that looks like this just below the transmission shift knob? If so, that's the eLSD on/off switch.

No, I do not have that button to my knowledge. I have 4A, 4H, 2H, a hill descent control and maybe a parking sensor off button below it.

Not to be cynical, but, it seems that many of you just bought whatever Expy that was on the lot without first looking at what you were buying !!!!
Even buying used, you should be able to figure what packages are on the truck.
When all else fails, read the manual. When it gets to a specific point, look at your truck to see if it has that particular piece of equipment, i.e. if the manual shows a picture of a "locker button" and your Expy has that button....you have a locker.
Then, again, if all else fails, use your "MK 2 Eyeball" to see if your rear axle has the necessary lines for a locker...
And if that fails....look at the door sticker as mentioned in a previous post....for the axle code....that will tell you what axle you have.....
This is not rocket science !!!

The issue is that the packages, the manual, and the door sticker all say something different. The manuals don't even have a place for a "3L" axle code, and this is why everyone is confused. It does appear to have an LSD based on spirited driving in Michigan, but I haven't jacked it up to give it the spin test yet. I have a Ranger which also has several "features" that don't appear on the build sheet, or do appear on the build sheet, but didn't make it into the final product (which is hugely common for Ford).

Go by the sticker.....3L indicates 3.73 limited slip rear axle.
Also, if your Expy has a factory tow package, it has a 3.73 limited slip axle.
If it has an FX4 package, it has a 3,73 limited slip axle.
From the info I have seen, you must have either the Tow Package or the FX4 package to get the limited slip. Even on the upscale models you have to have one of those packages. The limited slip does not appear to be a "stand alone" option.
The info I have only applies to the 4th gen models.
You won't find a code breakdown in the manual...just google up "3L axle code for (year) Ford Expedition"

Looking at my window sticker under Optional Equipment it shows Heavy Duty Trailer Tow PKG,995.00. CCD W/Sport Tuning Susp 1,495, Control Trac with 3:73 ELSD. This shows not as an Equipment Group, But is listed individually.

I don't have HD Tow package, I don't have FX4 or Timberline, I googled 3L axle code 2024 Expedition" whch lead me here :)

I have the Stealth Performance Package which doesn't say it includes the LSD, my window sticker even says "Non-ELSD Axle - No Charge" My vin is :1FMJK2AGXREA61776 Help me see how this is an easy thing to determine.

Don't exactly know how the 2024 packages are listed, but on my 2019 the "Heavy Duty Trailer Tow Package" is a separate package and includes the 3.73 Limited Slip ELSD axle.
However, my 2019 does not have the Trailer Tow Package.....BUT, it does have the FX4 Package which includes everything the tow package has except the brake controller (I added my own).
Just depends on what "package" you have for your individual model/year

Your vin will not show the axle type....on the door sticker there is an area on the bottom that has the axle type. Look at post #12 of this thread....shows you where to look for the axle code.
On a 2024 Stealth to get the limited slip, you have to have a tow package or a 4x4 package/control trac....the limited slip comes with those "packages"
No "package"....you have a regular ole rear end....
A lot of these "packages" overlap each other like the Tow Package and the FX4 package.....both list similar parts n pieces. Very easy to get confused if you don't have the original window sticker.

OK, I have Stealth Performance Package, "Towing Prep Package" and 4wd with no 4Lo. I stated above my axle code is 3L, but nowhere in the manual or online was I able to validate what that actually meant.

The "3L" is the give-a-way....electronic limited slip diff., 3.73 ratio.
If you had a regular non slip the code would be 2L.
The Stealth Package does not include the ELSD, but the Control Trac and FX4 does.
The Trailer Prep Package does NOT come with the ELSD, but the Heavy Duty Trailer Tow Package does include the ELSD.....two different packages.
Also, the fact that yours is a 4x4 means it automatically comes with the ELSD.

Makes perfect sense :) The sticker even says the opposite. I do believe you are correct though, but I'm not even sure how.

It has become a word game. Equipment Group 304A Denotes Stealth Performance
Edition P on the window sticker. That provides for the big motor and other goodies. Control Trac With ELSD is an Optional Equipment item. HeaveyDuty trailer Tow Package is a Optional Equipment Item which does not speak to a ELSD. The only option that mentions ELSD that I'm aware of is the Control Trac.
Are you saying that a 4X4 has to have ELSD??

From info that you can google, it appears that a base Expy with 4x4 can have a standard non slip axle. The ELSD is included with several packages that can overlap each other....like getting the heavy duty tow package and a FX4 package, both coming with the ELSD.....so you just need to know what order packages you have.
But, bottom line, if the door sticker reads 3L you have the ELSD.
I apologize for posting a 4x4 "has" to have a limited slip....it depends on the "package" ordered.
My 2019 had different packages available that were much plainer and easier to break down.
The info for the 2024's is online from googling/reading Ford Sales Brosures and Ford websites.
Apparently you can order a standard 4x4 package and it will come with a standard axle and a one speed transfer case.....to get the ELSD and 2 speed case you have to get another "package". And apparently the only way to know which transfer case you have is by the buttons available to push for 4 hi and 4 low.
Simply google up "Does Ford Expedition 4x4 come standard with ELSD" and a bunch of info sites come up.

My Expedition is a 2024 Limited. 304A, 3.73 eLSD, HD Tow. They were all separate items, with prices, on my window sticker. The eLSD was not included with HD Towing. My axle code is 3L.

Yr funny. I'd never paid any attention to Expys in my entire life and when they brought mine into the showroom I was like "hmmm I'm gonna buy this". I did drive it around the block but... that was it; it was love at first sight.

I too was confused about my axle. At least, while the window sticker said "CONTROLTRAC WITH ELSD" and the door sticker said "3L" and yes I have that button below the selector knob, nowhere could I confirm what Ratio it was.

But when I dug into the Towing Guide and found this chart, I decided to believe it and declare victory:
