What’s the biggest tire I can fit on my stock 22” rim without rubbing or minimal trimming? Drove on the beach last week and the stock tires sucked

2019 Ford Expedition Max Limited 4WD
Lift : ReadyLift 3/2 w/custom rods for CCD

Tires :Nitto Ridge Grapplers LT285/60-R20

Rims: Method 305 20x9

Does it poke? No

Does it rub? Appears it did initially but not now

We bought this Expedition used in February with the lift and wheels already installed and about 15k miles on the tires. Loving it so far but I will likely upgrade the suspension to either the Icon or King system and use the Icon CCD delete.

Moderate lift and new tires. Need 1” spacers for rear, looks a bit too narrow.

How do you like the way those tires ride? Are they quiet? I've been considering a set of continentals for my next set.

What did you have to do to make the shackles fit on the front? I like that look a lot.

About time for some new shoes, I'm thinking 285/50r22 Nitto Ridge Grapplers and leveling the front probably with a 3/2 lift. What lift do y'all recommend?

Finally got the Icon Stage 2 and new wheel/tire combo installed. Will take better pics when I finish the roof rack.

Quoting my own post with a quick update. This Icon suspension system combined with these tires exceeds expectations. Have had truck on multiple trails in Utah, Colorado and New Mexico. Have had rear wheels in the air and front wheels in the air and traveled washboard roads, rocky hills, deep mud, water, sand, etc. No extreme rock crawling, but this 'Max' version goes everywhere I need it to for basic overlanding.

Handles equally great on the road up to north of 95mph with full load in the vehicle. The adjustability of the dampening is great and offers a wider range of firmness than I expected.

At this point the only thing working against it is the length for short switchbacks, but I never expected 'everything' from it. Very capable even without lockers.

I'd say the only downside I've seen is the springs are a bit soft with a trailer on the vehicle. But the extra length of the 'max' may be playing a role in the sag I see.

MPG over 2100 miles of flat and mountains with varied terrain sits around 16 to 16.5 MPG.

Would 100% buy it all again exactly like this.

They are actually very quiet and the grip in high water is great, no more hydroplaning. They are also only 39 lbs per tire, which is a considerable weight reduction from stock. So far they are great and much better than stock in all categories. They do well in water as I was driving through 6 inches of water on the highway a couple weeks back with Ida rolling into town and flooding roads.

Also had to trim the power running boards—about an inch off the front. Basically you are removing the section of running board that extends into the wheel well when the running board is stowed in the “up” position.
What did you use to trim the boards? Would you mind posting a close-up photo showing where you trimmed and what it looks like now?

Thanks in advance!

Just finished the 3/2 lift with new 20” Fuel wheels with -18 offset and 275/60/20 Mickey Thompson Baja A/T’s. Zero rub and zero trimming. Still looks pretty big & aggressive for an expedition. Chrome delete starts this weekend…wish me luck.
