I took my Expedition on a fact finding mission trying to figure out the noises it makes. The ringing noise stops when I slow down to about 15mph or less. So to rule out a pulley, I was going about 30mph with no one around. I put the truck in neutral and shut it off. The sound remained.
To me, it almost has to be my brakes, or a wheel bearing. With the engine off, I can't think of anything else that could make noise while I am rolling. Especially because it won't make the noise when the engine is running but I am sitting still.
What do you all think? And how can my brake wear indicator be making noise when I don't have the brake pedal pushed?
Man I just don't see how those stamped nuts can make noise if they don't move. I did not get a chance this weekend to try though. What is there purpose. You are saying to remove them, but they must have a job, right?
As for your plan to pay Congress, trust me, they'd find a way to scam that too.
Think of it this way. A buddy of mine had a business he was trying to sell. He found a buyer in the spring. The deal was, the buyer would pay him in the spring, but my friend would run the business until the end of summer, then turn over the keys. The initial purchase price, plus whatever profit he made over the summer was what his to keep. Do you think he made any good LONG TERM investments in upkeep on the business? No, he only made enough repairs and inventory purchases to keep it going until he cashed out at the end of summer. He didn't screw the guy over, but he certainly wasn't buying any brand new equipment or buying a year supply of anything. He basically had to keep everything going for 4 months without really improving anything.
