Newbie here, Just saying hi and asking one question

newbie here, and figured I'd stop in and say hi. I have a 2006 Ford Expedition with 145,000 miles on it. The only thing (until today) that was ever wrong with it was the DVD player screen rattled and came loose at the hinges. Dealer finally fixed that. Actually am only on my second set of tires, and still the original brakes. I change the oil every 5000 miles and never did anything else to it. Today, it threw a PO302 code and I'm about to change the coil pack and plugs.

The question I have is should I change all of the coil packs or wait until the others go out? Will be working on it tomorrow.

Looking forward to hanging out here some. Thanks for the info thus far....

Myself, I like to change complete sets of ignition components when it's in the budget. I find it easier doing it all once rather than changing them one at a time.

Coil packs all changed!!! Plugs all changed!!! If anyone reads this in the future, make sure you rig up a shop vac or your wife's house vacuum with a piece of rigid plastic 1/2" tubing about 18" long to vacuum out the dust, leaves, and grime from around the plugs. That way, when you pull the plugs, the dust and shtuff doesn't drop into the motor.

Kind of a PITA, but I got 'er did. Only 7 of 10 knuckles busted. Drove it around long enough and started it 5-6 times and the CEL actually went out too!

Oh, and you might want to stop somewhere and make sure that code is cleared, it will likely be saved and will reappear next time a different issue pops up down the road...

code is cleared. I cleared it with my code reader, and then decided for grins to take the battery cable off and let that drain the memory. Here it is a week later and I just checked with my reader and the systems have all been reset, meaning I drove it enough and there are no codes pending.

As far as driving it...yes...wow! A pretty big difference. Smoother acceleration and about 1.5 mpg better. But I changed the air filter and oil at the same time as the coil packs so it's as good as it gets. Hopefully I'll get another 145,000 out of it.
