I replaced my intake manifold gasket to resolve a CEL issue. Looked at the manifold while it was out and didnt find any cracks. Howver I noticed it continues to leak coolant.

Probably gonna have to bite the bullet and replace the manifold. I have seen in previous posts where Amazon sells a Non-dorman OEM manifold for a decent price, but can't find it in my search. Didn't find on Rock auto either. Can someone forward a link and/or part number for the OEM intake manifold?

Yep. I just bought that Ford intake. Seems like a better piece than the Dorman that it replaced.

In my opinion having replaced one. Holding side by side the dorman has a bigger air box between the heads on the bottom, don’t know but might have given better air flow. On my 5.4

From what I've seen most who install the Dorman remove it within 30-50,000 miles.

My Dorman looked anemic compared to those pictures. And the bottom picture, I think the Dorman is on the right.

The Dorman gaskets sucked for me. The manifold itself survived the 42k miles and 2.5 years- just not the gaskets. And the bolt holding the underside of the aluminum crossover was also loose and leaking (have to remove intake to get to).

Thanks for the link. Just ordered.

Did a bit of research online and the Dorman didn't seem to last as long as the original equipment.

I replaced the intake on my wife's 03 5.4 Expedition and found out someone replaced the intake at some point to a Dorman. We bought the truck with 118K miles on it so I have no idea of when it was replaced. About 9 months ago it was at around 134K miles and it began to leak from the front by the crossover so I assumed it was cracked. It turns out the gaskets were trashed because I found no cracks or breaks upon inspection. I bought a new Ford OEM intake to replace it and fixed all the misfiring coils and new plugs while doing this job. After buttoning everything up and test driving it, I then discovered the catalytic converters were ruined from driving it with misfires so long. So I replaced the assembly with the Magnaflow Hi flow 4 cat assembly and a straight through Magnaflow muffler. Well my point is I don't know how restrictive the Dorman intake was, because I upgraded the exhaust at the same time as replacing the intake, but the truck has way more torque than ever and pulls harder up top too. I know for sure 4.6 Dorman intakes for PI cars are restrictive because they use NPI runners with PI flanges and it kills the mid to high end power. My point is buy OEM if possible and skip the reliability and power issues associated with the Dorman intake. Also if anyone think the intakes are ok and wants the Dorman intake you can have it if you pay for shipping. I didn't want to just throw it away. If it turns out to have a leak I will return your cost for shipping because I am a person of integrity and absolutely couldn't find anything wrong with it. Message me if interested.

2000 Expy, 5.4 Full time AWD 327k Miles. I replaced my cracked, coolant leaking factory manifold with the aftermarket Dorman in 2011. In addition to COP ignighters NOT shorting out, I got a better running 5.4. The larger size and air volume flow makes a noticeable improvement. 6 years later and it still runs perfectly.

Check eBay for GENUINE Ford parts. I have had excellent results and good prices, ordering through eBay from Tasca Ford.
