Little update...took mine in to finally get this popping thing dealt with. The only annoying thing is they are charging me 60 bucks for a computer update...still under warranty. But I am so over it I would pay 200...sadly.

Also...my water pump failed which is why its at the dealer in the first place...total fail for Ford on the build quality.

I'd push back on them. My dealer fixed it under warranty. I understand charging for feature updates, but not ones that fix actual problems (especially ones with a bulletin: SSM 47835).

I got one too...Ford didn't care. They said "You have plenty of warranty...if it stops working all together we can work with you on fixing it." SOOOO COMFORTING to hear this when you paid 70,000+ for a vehicle...
I also find it fairly embarrassing that it does it when I am taking clients around in it.

We just experienced this on our trip to AZ and shortly after having added my wife's seating position as "driver 2". It had not done this for the preceding couple of months when I was the only driver and using memory 1. I think Ford has started calling these "features" instead of problems .

The fix that’s mentioned in this thread actually worked for me. So I think Ford realizes it as a problem.

While in at Alexander Ford here in Yuma for the erratic power side step, they did this update on the wonky side mirrors. They seemed to know about this problem straight away - so it appears to be a common issue. Hopefully this resolves it, permanently.

Mine has stayed gone and it’s been a couple months I think now...

What's up with the "erratic power side step?" Just last night I got into our '18 and when I started driving I heard it move and realized it had not retracted like it was supposed to when I closed the door. Once the vehicle was moving though it did retract. That was very unusual and I don't recall it happening before.

Mine does this occasionally. Never been an issue tho as it always closes.

I had issues with my passenger side mirror. Ford flashed a software update causing both driver and passenger mirror to have issues(had it for 5-days). I took it to Lincoln and they fixed both mirrors and my running board in under 2 hours.

They are charging me a software update to fix it...it is at the dealer now. Major ****** off at Ford over this crap. It's clearly an issue and has been from day 1 and yet I get to pay for the update to fix it??

You shouldn’t have to pay a damn red cent. I responded to your post on a different thread but I’m annoyed enough about your situation to comment here too lol. I’d try a different dealer if possible, and/or go up the chain of command as loud as need be.

I finally took mine in and told the service writer about the mirror software update. After having the lift gate pop open while I was walking behind it and knock a bag of groceries out of my hand, I decided enough was enough and scheduled an appointment to take it in right away. I gave him that TSB information too. When the truck was returned to me, the mirrors no longer folded in when I locked it, but I was able to go into settings and fix it. Both front windows lost the one-touch 'up' feature which I had to set by holding window switch up for a count of 5 after the window closed--both sides. Funny thing was, they would both do the one-touch 'down,' just not 'up.' Hoping that the mirror fluttering is a thing of the past now.

I had mine done a few weeks ago and have had no problems since. The TSB works.

When I had mine fixed I had to change those same settings back as well. Whatever the reprogram involves it must entail resetting these back to their default of ‘off’.

Just had this TSB done this week.
So far so good.
I didn’t have to reprogram anything for mirrors or windows.

Do you have what the TSB (Toyota term...) # is for the lift gate fix? Mine randomly pops open so many times it is dangerous.

Here's what the paperwork says: Ran Oasis TSB 19-2162 Performed TSB Wired in new ground circuit

I'm not sure if the TSB requires new ground or if it entails any programming too. So far kicking foot under bumper works maybe 25% of the time which was about what it was before. If it stops the lift gate from lowering down on my head, I'll consider it a success

Interestingly enough, I had this done and though it was fixed... What it actually does is stop the mirrors from hunting but it doesn't actually solve the problem. Most people won't notice it because they don't have 2 different mirror settings that are very far apart from one another (or it's just an additional issue that's unique to my vehical, or possibly temperature related).

If you want to see what I'm talking about, take your passenger mirror and move it down and right from your current setting in bank one ( a decent amount). Wait about 10 seconds. Press bank 1 to return the mirror to where the memory position is. Press bank 1 again and see if your mirror moves again... Then press bank 1 again and see if your mirror moves again... For me, sometimes I have to press bank 1 up to four times to get the mirror back to the actual bank 1 position.

While I thought it was fixed, it really isn't a 100% fix, the update just keeps the mirrors from freaking out. It doesn't make them find their correct positions with one press. At least it didn't for me.

Thank you. The foot kick on mine works pretty reliably, my problem is the liftgate will randomly open when walking near the truck. Great thing to happen as the wife is putting our infant in the second row at a parking lot and the back liftgate just pops open or when I have the dogs in the back and the liftgate just pops open. Thankful I have great dogs and they have never just jumped out when this has happened.
