I was poking around the engine bay and found this valve thing and what appeared to be the inlet hose just lying around doing nothing. Should I hook that loose hose to the inlet of the valve. And what is the name and what does this valve do?

Would anyone know where the outlet of this valve go to? It appeared to missing . Please chime in.

That is the heater control valve. If the vacuum line isnt hooked up it will not open to circulate hot water for heat in the cold weather.

Thank a lot rburch. Is there a hose hook up to the other side of the valve in the picture?

Congrats. I, too, just bought a 2005 Eddie Bauer, except in White/Gold.

Nice, congrats! Since you have the same year, is there anyway you can open the hood and check the heater valve hoses for me?

there shouldn't be. it works on vacuum.

So, should I put a cap on the other side then? It looked to me there was something there before.

nothing goes there, thats where someone grabbed it with there hand (which took the dirt off) the hose just kind of slides on the end and you will see it suction if the heat is on.

by the way, I hear 05 EB's are pretty bada$$

Thank you for taking the time for the picture, but man! I'm envy of your engine bay, it's a beauty!

So here's another picture I just took after plugged in the front hose, but nothing in the rear of the valve, If this is how it is then it would clog up soon or later. It's not logical to me (scratching my head)

Oh yeah! BTW, I heard the same thing about the 05-EB secrets.

it is supposed to be that way. I think the peice you are pointing to is another place to hook up a different kind of heater valve for another vehicle. That is the way it should be though.

no prob I would have taken a better pic but im out of town, I cleaned the crap out of it when i first got it back in 08, pressure wash and tire shine. I usually spray it down after oil changes and re detail. I've learned a clean engine bay really helps when your trying to troubleshoot stuff and your not always dirty when you play around under the hood

Sharp ride. One of my favorite color combos.
