A lot of that has to do with crash testing and heat requirements etc... The Roku has been a great addition. It has its own interface or it can be used as a cast device.

AKentPhoto, knowing what I know now. i would not pay $60.00 for the pair of monitors.

I think Lincoln charge $2400.00 for this junk.

Yeah... the regulation side of car development is nowhere near the tech curve... Phone upgrade cycles have ruined us for what we come to expect. Usually what is coming out on new models is already 2-4 years old due to the time it takes to develop everything else. If you don't rely on them for anything other than being monitors they are great. Nice size... HD... Not much to complain about other than lack of audio out, but that is on the sync input side, not out on the monitor out side...

But there are no speakers.

Maybe I can find the trace and solder in a 3.5mm jack.

I need those in my life! I havd removed my vizualogics headrest from my 17 F150 Plat.. hoping to replace them to matching Expy.. they don't make them for the Expy. So now I have to ditch those and find something else..or someone may not make it back from our summer trip.. [emoji2357]

Have you been able to get any other features out of the system by flashing the os? Are you using stock Android or another non Lincoln version of the os? Are you able to get any of the features on the non Lincoln version? Or did they take the extra hardware out as well? Built in fm transmitter would be killer.

I did not flash another os yet, I added nova launcher, so when the monitor powers up, I choose what launcher I want to use, I can either pick lincoln or google, so it is stock, can work either way, I will try to add FM transmitter app and see if it works

So the Navigator RES doesn't have a 3.5mm jack as standard? The Expy system does have a 3.5mm jack in the driver's side monitor which is how I ran the wired audio to the Sync headunit.

Looks good but not sure how they’d attach in a Navi. The gap between seat and monitor is a deal killer for me anyway. Kids are big enough now where every inch of legroom matters.

FWIW, the installer screwed up the install a bit and I took it back for them to fix. The black "housing" underneath the headrest now sits flush with the seat (as it should). But that doesn't address the distance to which the monitors stick out into the "aisle".

Although, I do have that front passenger seat moved AAALLL the way backward. My wife has enough room to do "sit and be fit" in the front seat (without exaggeration she can stick her legs almost all the way forward and not hit the dash). If it were moved up to a "normal" position you would have significantly more room for the second row.

Also, I know the Navi has a special bracket that goes with these TVs to address your fancy seats.

Finally back ... sorry! We are enjoying these monitors in our Navigator. I won't waste time going over what has already been discussed.

I can say a few things I'm not fond of ...

1) Note that these have DVD players, not Blu Ray players. So if you have Blu Rays you won't be able to play them.

2) On the Navigator they protrude out from the seat quite a bit (just like the OEM ones). It's not bad, but just wanted to note it. They also maybe sit a little bit lower than I'd like for kids in convertible seats. Of course this depends on the height of the seats in the front row at any given time.

Whomever wired ours in connected them so that anytime the auto start/stop engages the power is cut to the monitors. I will have this fixed next time I go in, but for now I have to make sure and disable stop/start if we're going to be watching them.

The ability to download all the apps is great. I watched a bunch of Big Ten basketball on the way home on a road trip one time this spring. And like mentioned, the app that mirrors the rear screens on your phone is a great option for those with little ones. If our kids were older we'd probably just have bought a couple of iPads, so if you can deal with the price this is a nice option over factory.

So far the auto start/stop problem is unsolved. If your shop figures it out, I will WELCOME the solution.

My install shop spent 8 hours with it and ended up with a capacitor, a diode, a trigger and something else. At the end we thought we had it figured but no dice. Whenever the ASS restarts the engine after a stop, the screens shut off. Not a solvable problem as far as we can tell.

I finally decided it wasn’t worth my time anymore and bought the auto start/stop eliminator. The ASS doesn’t bother me at all and I’m happy to save the gas, but keeping it is not worth another 6 hours of audio techs digging through my car trying to hopefully solve the problem.

So again, the problem we are experiencing may not be fixable. But if your guys figure it out, PLEASE TELL ME WHAT THEY DID. Thanks!

Lets follow the Kiss rule. get a narrow web strap with a clasp to put around between the headrest and seatback (make sure the color matches) put a tablet case with kickstand or hand strap on a high resolution tablet link it wirelessly to the WiFi you have Hands free netflix, Prime video, downloaded video for when there is no cellular signal get fancy with sling TV etc. Just no disks to carry around and put back in the case which fits just where? Keep It Simple Silly. you can take the strap off if someone important is getting in the car or just hang a few reusable shopping bags on it and they will thing you are environmentally friendly even though you drive a Navigator. BTW welcome to earth Young one.

Whatever circuit that was tapped to power the units needs to be checked with a volt meter while the truck is turning itself on and off. That will confirm its the power source and not the units themselves being picky about voltage. The fact that they turn off with the engine and not during restart makes me believe he is correct.

But they don’t turn off with the engine, they stay on while the truck is stopped, it’s only when the truck fires back up that they shut off.

And they have the TVs hooked directly to the battery.

Throw a capacitor on the positive lead between the battery and monitor... It's basically a quick charge/discharge battery to cover the gaps. They are popular on big number car stereos.
