Has anyone installed an aftermarket rear sway bar on their 4th gen?
I can't stand how much mine sways from side to side on rough country back roads. My wife nicknamed my car the "bobblehead" because it literally makes you feel like a bobblehead swaying back and forth in it on the country roads. Its just so soft and sloppy. I'm 99% sure its the rear suspension and not the front suspension. I'm wondering if anyone has tied an aftermarket rear sway bar to get rid of this?
Mine is a Limited 302A Max 4x4 with the CCD suspension. The suspension is much better in Sport mode, but then it shifts like its in full-retard.

Anyone?

When was the last time it was aligned? It really sucks there isn't an "Individual" setting where you can manually set the trans, suspension, steering etc...

Its not an alignment issue, its a rear suspension design flaw. It drives straight as an arrow on smooth roads and it only has 7,000 miles on it. It's a characteristic of the rear suspension design.
GM specifically added an additional link to their 2021+ rear Independent suspension because they noted this flaw in the Ford design and their additional link reduced it drastically.
I just can't tolerate the leaning tower swaying in the wind on the back roads.

You have already driven a 2021? I have not read a single word mentioning the new suspension design out performs the Expedition. The Expy has 4 links that are triangulated and the spring bucket arm. The new GMC’s have more of a trailing arm design with only 2 links and the spring bucket arm. Reminds me of a Polaris XP rear suspension. The tires still move in pretty much the same manner. Shock location would change the sway and so would the dampening and spring rates. But the Sway bar is the key. Stiffer bar will greatly help the sway, but you loose wheel articulation and can harshen the ride. The question is will it be better to do the front, back or both. I have the Sumo spring spacers to install this spring for dune and boating season to help with the sag. If the Elvis Pelvis Hips bother me to bad I will try the hellwig rear bar first. I may just order it before spring so I have it waiting.

Somewhere in GM's release they specifically said they fixed the design flaw of the Expeditions rear suspension by adding an additional link of some sort. They claimed the rear sway was almost completely removed. They weren't calling the ford out, but they specifically said they did this to reduce the slop the expedition has. They weren't kidding, because mine is really sloppy. Backroads are the worst because they are heaved and it throws the expedition all over. It tracks straight, but it slops the body side to side like its full of water sloshing back and forth.
I'll put a sway bar on the back in a month or so.

Please give us a write up when you do. I am fine with the land yacht feel of the Expy. If it gets to bad I put it in Sport or Tow/haul seems to firm it up a little. I will probably add one from a towing point of view. Independent rear is never as solid feeling towing. Especially in the wind.

A the positive effects of a swaybar should be exaggerated when towing.

Motortrend noted what deadman stated during the press comparison chevy did. They had press drive comparison with a high cty with air springs vs a ltd 302 expy in a route that chevy determined. In it they stated they felt similar over smooth roads and broken pavement but the chevy had a more gentler, stable feel on backroads. I would say the stableness would be more due to the springs, and ford put very stiff springs on the the 4th gen expys and the dampers are fighting the tight spring rates. The versions without ccd dont heave much if at all and body control is a bit too good if you ask me. On back roads outside the lean, the back of the truck is glued with no bobbing or rocking, but your sacrificing a lotta pavement compliance, the back end bucks around alot on bad pavement. My nav with air springs had a much better rough road ride, though the expy had a better overall ride. I cant find the article now but i copied the link to it in one of the threads here back in dec.

Part of my sales territory is rural Appalachia and it’s not fun going downhill into a turn.

Here is the Motor Trend article about the IRS. There is no added arm. Like I mentioned they made a more trailing style arm. And of course the engineer will say theirs is the best. But ride and comfort is not the same to everyone. BAJA racers have tried every suspension design out there and wheel travel is wheel travel. They try to minimize negative camber changes, tire scrub and toe changes. But everything moves in an arch so there is nothing really new. Air bags are a plus IMO. Maybe not having the axles through the frame will let them lift it 6”. I’m all about that. Still waiting on tow numbers. That and the EcoBoost are the only reasons I picked the Expy. 6.6 Duramax in the Tahoe I would trade for it today.

My shocks are fine, the ccd handles it better in Sport mode because the shock valving is stiffer. Its just a design characteristic of this suspension. Certain situations make it lose its mind and ford sprung it very soft to ride good, so that all adds up to rear end moving around more than I like. Its real sloppy changing lanes quickly too, and I think that will get much better with a rear bar. I'd do it now, but I'm taking it cross country for a couple weeks and I don't want to dick with it right before the trip in case I don't like the end result.....

I hope it is the fix. I’m pretty confident it is. I had a Ford Raptor and had it on the highest front spring setting and took off the front sway bar. The body roll more than doubled. In high winds it would push the truck around. But the off road ride was so much better and drifting it into corners would feel sketchy at first but the secret is more gas and walk the back around to keep the truck flat. Put it back on and it felt like a tank. And that was just the front. In the Expy we can add two if needed.

Anyone wanting a Hellwig sway bar, they are on backorder or delayed. I ordered 2 on 1-20-2020. I have yet to see them.. The distributor emailed me and asked if I wanted to wait or a refund. They stated they had received word from Hellwig there is a delay, and no given ETA on delivery. They are built to order and build time is 10-20 days. I'm still waiting on my other one..

I tried to order from Summitt and they wouldn't let me, so I ordered it from Jegs and they gave me a date.
