I don't want a used one I want the remanned unit with the 3 year warranty...looks like Jasper has one for 3200 plus 1000 core deposit....I wish you didnt have to reprogram the computer or I would swap it out myself...

Change it yourself and go from there. You may be able to force the tcm into relearning the shift points.

From all my search so far the computer has to be reflashed... looks like the program is available from the trans remanufacture... this is why I only mess with old stuff...I hate computers...

Check the price of a Ford reman unit. ot one rebuilt by a dealer, but one reman by a Ford certified re-manufacturing facility.

Besides have a 3 year warranty, including labor, the warranty is honored at any Ford dealer in the US !

Took to trans shop this morning...they don't think it the transmission...they think it's the drivers side IWE...they are going to look into it and let me know. My wallet is not ready to celebrate but it is definitely still fat and its grinning a little bit.

Just got a call...vacuum line to the drivers side IWE was dry rotted...new vacuum line good to go...I didnt realize they went back to using vacuum for 4wd...just like my 1990 wrangler...which drives me just as crazy. Apparently the hard shifting was it trying to put that side in 4wd...had the trans services while was there...nothing wrong with and fluid look better than he expected with 155k on the clock.

Beers on me tonight!

What great news! Good to know for all of us when our time comes too.
No doubt, you hear anything metal on metal isolated ro one side..check your IWE and vacuum before you start assuming the worse. I thought because I was getting abnormal feedback during shifting that it was a transmission issue. Turns out it way the hubs trying to lock. You have to have vacuum to the front hubs ro keep it in 2wd. In 2wd with motor running you should be able to feel vacuum of your finger if you pull the line off...if not you have issues with vacuum system or the hub itself..

Quick update here...after getting the vacuum line repaired I was still getting a slight grinding noise on that side in the last 10' of a complete stop...Stopped on the way home from work and picked up a new 4wd actuator...tore the driver front all apart and replaced it...it didnt look bad. Still had plenty of air coming out when it was compressed...looked fine...swapped it out anyways..grinding noise when stopping is gone...Best I can figure the diaphram in the actuator got damaged trying to go into 4wd at 80 mph when I lost vacuum and the hole was just small enough I was loosing vacuum when the engine throttled down to come to a stop...not a tough job took about and hour. Still had most of my sockets laying g out from the lift...lol
