Solved my HID problem..

I mentioned I was having some issues with the HID's I got from Xenonhids.com - to recap, I kept burning up ballasts on the non-connected side of the harness.

I looked up a shop with good reviews that was in my area so I could have my installation double-checked. I met Danny with undergroundlighting.com who runs a local and online shop.. he does mobile installations here where he lives as well as his online shop. I got quite the education on how these systems really work, how canbus really plays in to that equation and what quality looks like vs. poor design. I ended up replacing the system I had and I couldn't be happier.

Danny wants to get more engaged in this forum and others. I expect now that he knows about this forum you'll see that, and hopefully he'll consider sponsoring the site.

Danny welcome to the site. We just lost a great electrical, and mechanical member about 1 1/2 months back. He like yourself was a great asset to our site and will be missed. We have 4 parts, 1st through 4th generation Expeditions, along with electrical, and other sections. My background is more mechanical than electrics. Again welcome to our forum, Moose.

"I paid some dude, heres his website" is not a tech solution

There's NO voodoo or art involved, it-s all simple electronic components... "cancellers" are just capacitors in convenient boxes prewired to plugs, for example. Harnesses boil down to a certain gauge wiring and a certain brand relay, "good" vs. "Bad" mostly depending on whether the relay is quiet and lasts or clicks noisily and melts. Etc.


PS and if you kept killing ballasts, you do NOT actually know if your new kit resolved the issue, not for the first year or two

Alright, I'll break it down. I thought my original purchase was a "quality" set of hid ballasts and bulbs. After repeated problems and some education I realized I bought crap. I didn't want to jump right out there and say that in case the original seller is a sponsor or something. The new system has a better design.. I say that after gaining a better understanding of how the new system works as compared to what I had previously.

I freely admit a lack of electrical know-how but I'm curious as why the link shows a kit that does not fit the 2017 Expys especially after just installing one?

The ACTUAL low beam bulb is a HB3, not the H13 or H11 the manual is wrong......

My expedition is a 2013..

I love seeing lots of aftermarket support for our trucks....so Danny, thank you but please be careful with links etc since many times, offerors are citing the wrong equip because they go by the manuals.

How was anyone to know this was a 2112?? And it's VERY misleading to post a link to the stuff that won't fit for the other members.....just sayin

I don't mind going out and and buying a better kit, but please explain exactly what makes it better. Is it the construction of the ballast? Bulbs are bulbs so there can't be much difference there and the only thing else is the wiring and that's also basic so please explain because I don't mind getting a new kit.
