i bought this kit thinking i was going to add a throaty noise. no noise. it sound like my factory setup. has anyone modified a kit to make a louder noise, or does anyone with a k&n kit make a lot of noise. i installed a k&n kit on my friends 2012 f150 5.0 and on acceration over 2500 rpms it will hurt your ears. that sound is what i am looking for.

here is alink for the sound i am taking about

if you want noise...get a turbo/supercharger...its an intake...and i have to say this is the 1st ive heard of someone wanting sound from the intake...ppl mainly want to get the hp/mpg gains...to each his own i guess...prob just me but i wouldnt compare a car to a truck regardless of motor size

Must be my old ears. Both intakes sounded the same to me. Any sound you would hear is because the hood is open and you're next to it. Close the hood , take it for a spin and you won't hear anything. Intakes don't add noise unless that intake includes a blower or turbo. If you want throaty you need to change out the exhaust.

can't do the exhaust. i have neighbors that are too old on both sides of me so exhaust is out. that f150 in the video if you shut the hood and went and drove it that airfilter is 10 times louder of that.
i decided today i am at the end of what i wanted to do with the expedition and frustrated with it so its time for it to go.
i have worked at a ford dealership for the last 11 years and i am not impressed with the quality and price of the newer stuff so i am going to sell the expedition and buy another marauder.

Depends on the exhaust. If you do straight pipes, then yeah, I can see them getting upset. I have Stingers on the Cobra and my neighbors loved because I was their snooze alarm.

Very nice.... I hope I can get a whipple some day. :)

Guess the others never heard a healthy intake growl at wot?! I have had and heard many vehicles with great induction growl to them but have yet to hear any expys yet worth mentioning. Guess you have to be a hot rodder at heart to appreciate the sound.
