Sorry you had that "friend". My experiences are in the real world under conditions where I was the actual one that saw, touched and felt. Believe none of what you hear and half of what you see. I'll take my own experiences over your friends opinion. Thanks for playing though...
See there you go assuming.
I have installed 5 lifts myself with a little assistance from that “friend”. The particular friend we are talking about has been repairing farm equipment since he was 10, and that was 25 years ago. I have known him since he was 13. His shop was VERY well respected and profitable. People would drive from all over the east coast to have him do the work, and custom fab. He got out of the business to go back to Farming, his family business and love. I respect his knowledge and experience because he has done 100’s of lifts, I have done 5. Guessing you are also a small number in comparison.
I am on my second Expedition EL with the Rough Country Spacer Kit. I have done both myself. With again, help from a friend who has a lift. Our 2015 was totaled when somebody turned in front of my wife at 45MPH. Our 2017 just got installed. I inspected the spacers after the accident, and almost pulled them to put on our 2017. They were unharmed and had not moved a cm. I did not have stock tires to put on at the time, so I did not.
