Decent tow mirrors (like on the SD or F-150) would be awesome. I've asked Ford reps at car shows and have e-mailed them, posted suggestions on MyFord.com, etc. No luck. Bottom line, they do not sell enough units to warrant any re-design investments. Given the price of gas, my guess is the Expy will be like the Crown Vic. They will keep selling them to a limited audience, but will only make minor changes. The same holds true for the Chevy Suburban. Just not demand to drive change.

McKesh mirrors work GREAT on our 2010 Expedition

Today, I learned that the slide-on plastic tow mirrors for the 2002 Expedition fit my 2007 XLT Expedition pretty well. I can't remember the brand, but I got them at an RV dealer.
I think they will stay on OK, not vibrate, but I did two easy mods on each, a 1.5" dia hole in the bottom for the mirror lite to shine thru the underside and cut a little of the inboard at the bottom, so the mirrors can be folded against the vehicle. I got them for $39 each. They come in LH and RH models.

Depends on what kind they are. I'm not interested in the clip/slide on type.

Has anybody tried to fit a set of late model or compareable model F150 tow mirrors to their Expedition? The mirror mount area looks to be very similar in size bwtween the F150 and the Expy.

I have a set of factory F150 2011 tow mirrors on my 05 F150 and am looking at upgrading to an Expedition in the next year or two, family is getting bigger, and would love to keep the tow mirrors for towing my Jeep.

As already posted, thes F 150 mirrors will not work on the Expeditions. The doors and mirror mounting points on these vehicles are very different.

If it were a simple swap, I would have already done it and be marketing a kit for the swap, but it will take lots of metal and body fabrication.

Heck the front doors look interchangeable. Well I guess if I do pull the trigger on an expedition.....I'll be with the rest of you, hoping for some factory style tow mirrors to hit the market.

They are, but Ford changed the F150 in 2004 and after that the mirrors / doors do not interchange with the Expeditions at all.

If you find good tow mirrors for old F150 ( prior to 04 ) then you should be all set.

That was kind of my original point. I know Ford changes the doors on the F150 in 04, but seem to have kept the old style (pre-04 F150) on the expedition.

I've seen Tow mirrors for the 99-03 F150 listed on Ebay and they look factory style, has anybody tried them?

the 97-03 f150 mirrors will not fit on an expedition.... a supercrew F150 mirror will fit because they have a larger mount... reg cab and super cab f150 have the smaller mount which is the style that is sold on ebay.... 2nd and 3rd gen expy mirrors will fit on 1st gen expys... I've been messing around with the idea of larger mirrors for mine... closest thing I've thought of and haven't done yet is get a set of superduty mirrors and make them fit then bondo and shape them to look stock... I've seen it done on a f150 but it was a lot of work and can't find cheap enough superduty mirrors yet to cut up and fit...
