Yeah I was thinking of getting either a superchip or SCT I've heard the SCT is more designed around the Ford brand

So I looked at the hitch on it, on the left side it has 4 prongs but then on the right side it has an actual plug in connection so does that mean I have HD tow package?

Is it an automotive plug or the round 7 pin RV plug?

Even if it says you can tow 9200lbs with the setup you have, knowing you have 3.31 gears I'd be cautious going that high due to the strain it'd put on your transmission. Not to say it couldn't handle it, but going over passes will make you wish you had a smaller trailer... And anything over 5000lbs you can likely forget towing with O/D on, even on flat ground. I'm not saying it's impossible, just don't go out pushing the weight envelope because you think you can, your truck will thank you. If you're considering anything in the 22-28' range, I'd go as light as possible, you'll likely find the sweet spot somewhere around 6-6500lbs would be my guess. There are a TON of options in that length and weight range.

Just be smart and try not to overdo it really, like I said, your truck will thank you.

Also, be sure as suggested before to go with a brake controller, weight distribution hitch, and a programmer that allows you to monitor trans temps.

Thanks media! Great advice, that actually was my thinking as well whether I had the 3.73 or not didn't much matter I wanted to try and stay around that 6-6500 range just so that it gives it room for it to have furniture etc in it and including passengers in the truck as well.

Absolutely I'm looking at an SCT set up with a monitor or even a bullydog that like you said you can monitor what the truck is doing. I definitely won't forget the brake controller or wd hitch either as they are vital parts needed.

I can't say thank you enough for all the advice y'all have given me, again I believe in safety and taking your time to get to your destination no need to hurry.

Now I'm going to ask should I look into upgrading to the 3.73 or will the 3.31 be fine as long as I'm not trying to overload my truck?

If you plan on towing often enough, then it may be worthit! Actually, you only have to do one differential so I'd prolly do it lol

Lol is it a fairly simple task to do by myself or do I need to take it somewhere? I don't plan on towing it often it's mainly for me to take it to my job (plant I work at) then back home so 2 times in a month maybe

for now you might want to stay with the 3.31 and then see how it does with the tuner set up and whatever trailer you go with. you can always change the gears if needed and being your in Houston you may not have many hills to worry about but that all depends on where you will traveling

Yeah I travel the US for work so there will be hills I encounter in the future. Now another question would y'all bother putting trailer sway bars as well?

When you get the trailer get a weight distribution hitch with the sway control built in. I have been using the Reese Dual cam HP hitch on 2 trailers over the last 10+ years. The first was a 29' and now we have a 30'.

it reality it is the weight the coupler (tongue) of the trailer places on the ball of the hitch hence the word tongue weight
