Replaced the original, intermittently working blower motor under the RH dash ($35 replacement motor on Amazon) and transitioned from conventional Castrol GTX high mileage oil to Mobil 1 high mileage synthetic. Only hiccup was I broke off the rear bolt (toward firewall) mounting the blower fan (there are four holding it in place) using a ratchet wrench. Three seem to be doing the job just fine.

Fixed my "4x4 not working" issue. First reset the transfercase module. Cleaned contacts on the esof switch. Tranfercase shift motor works but no 4x4 yet. Found the vacuum actuator motor lever was seized into the front diff, got that working, no 4x4 yet. Checked the vacuum solenoids yup they are working, pulled vacuum on the lines from the bottom, wont hold vacuum, ah ha.

This first bit wasn't today but a week or so I gave the truck a good wash and wax and boy did she look good! Flash forward to this morning on the 2nd day of a cold spell we've been having- as I was about to head to work, turns out my driver side door lock was frozen! Luckily it wasn't too bad and I still made it lol.

4x4 now works and ordered new lightning headlights and Harley corners in black. Should be here for my birthday. Gotta love working 40 hours overtime over a stat holiday (New Years). Gave the wife half and the Expy the rest.

Ordered upper and lower billet grills for the expy yesterday as well. Amazon had them at 86% off. Upper was 39.99 and lower was 56.00 with free shipping. Sent an email to a place for white face gauges. I need the metric speedo not the mph one.

So, I got to thinking about everything I've had fixed or replaced on my expedition within the last year. I was never experienced with engine or tranny components, but thanks to this fourm, I was able to get alot of help in those fields. The following is a list of everything that has been done within the last year.
1, Replace Front and rear breaklines
2, Install 2, 15in. Subs, amp & stereo.
3, Replace rear left Axel seal.
4, Tranny rebuild.
5, New P.S pump.
6, Replace both Upper Control Arms.
7, Replace both CV halfshafts.
8, Replace Thermostat
9, New Fuel Pump (full system)
10, New sparkplugs & coils
11, New Radiator
12, Blow #3 sparkplug, (due to defective plug) install solid Heli-coil, new plug and coil.
I've spent quite a bit of money on the Tranny and engine so far. My Fiancé always begs me to just trade it in for a Jeep or something. I told her, "find me a Jeep that seats 8, then we can talk" lol.

This is the vacuum modulator that engages the front diff. Controlled by the 2 vacuum solenoids on the firewall

Ok, back to the thread,

this past week I have been off work cause of finger surgery. So all that over time at work paid off. I got new vent visors, billet grilles, Black Lightning headlights and corners, air bags for the rear coils, gloss black bull bar from Smittybilt and 2-4 1/2 driving lights. Still waiting for the main billet grill and the headlights.

Also installed a complete rear hatch door. My original one had a huge dent from the original owner slamming the door closed. Tried to take it out but it was wavey.

There is a difference in the 97/98 and the 99/02 4X4 system So having a video of the 98 system may not be very helpful to someone with a 99 model. The 98 system uses vacuum where is the 99/02 system doesn't.

Although many other functions may be the same

A good source for videos is youtube

Then again having a good Ford Factory Service Manual is even more helpful.
As it would be specific to model and year and even has wiring diagrams.

Installed the bull bar and lights. Went to aim them last night after wiring them all up. I tapped into the park light circuit by the light switch. I check the amp draw for the relay and it was .16 amps wired the relay to the starter solenoid hot side. Spent about 7 hours making the wiring harness so all wires soldered, heat shrinked and loomed. Cant see any wires at all.

I can have just parks and bull bar lights only if wanted or just parkes

this bull bar was $35.05 cdn shipped to my door. From Amazon hit the deal at the right time for sure.
