I cleaned off all the fuses in the engine bay and under dash, cleaned up the battery cables and terminals, and performed a Ford Boo test. Checked oil level and tire pressures. Nothing exciting. Lol.

Installed an OEM hitch from the salvage yard. It was on a 99 with tow package. $25. Good score.

Hi folks. I'm new here and looking forward to participating in what looks to be an awesome place for expedition owners.

I just picked up an 04 4.6l about a week ago. Today i night shaded the taillights and third brake light. And plasti dipped my rims.

Not sure if I can ask this here in this thread, but does anyone have any experience in fixing a leaking oil filter adapter? Mine seems to be leaking from that area. I'm hope to fix it myself. If anyone has any tips and can let me know if this is a common oil leak I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Side moulding replacement

I have the white and chrome side moldings on my 99 XLT, and they have started to look pretty worn. Rather than replace them I covered them with AC Aluminum foil tape and I think it turned out pretty good for only 7.50 for a 150ft roll.

Before install, after install and side by side comparison images attached.

The passenger side already had gotten water behind the plastic cover portion of the trim and it had to be cut off before I laid the foil tape over it. The other 3 were not that bad in shape and just were taped over with any trimming.

Finally got the correct remotes that I ordered over a week ago. had to get batteries for them but both programmed easily. No more trying to find the key hole at 10p every night

Thought i needed some front wheel bearings. Turns out the driver side nut was not torqued properly. A bit loose so fixed that right up. Tightened up the rear shock bolts. Now the rear rides nice and quiet.

Tried hunting down a rattle sigh still searching

you're going to be looking for awhile. My '97 is rather quiet inside as far as rattles go, especially for a 275k truck :D

any idea where it may be coming from? I've had to do the same on my past car and it was tricky.

I had the same problem. would've never found it if it weren't for the spare rim making a rubbing noise. improperly installed cotter pins allowed it to back off.

It is in the rear, funny thing is when I put about 100lbs behind the third row the rattle goes away

have you had someone drive it and you sit in the 2nd row to try to pinpoint it? had to do that before with my buick. turns out it was the rear panel where the speakers sat.

check in the rear hvac or jack storage bin. maybe a door is lose on one of those. or, remove the carpet back there, fold up the 2nd row seat, remove the divider trim, remove the rear door trim and it pulls right out. maybe a penny or something is in there somewhere.

Ball joint ~ ugh

Failed inspection for driver's ball joint. Soooo...took a "balmy" 35 degree day with a bro and took it on. Dear lord. Not as bad as removing the control arms was, but the goof who owned before me (or his/her goof mech) put the sway bar links on upside down...meant no way to punch the bolt free from the sleeve it had frozen to. Soooo... hello sawzall and new link.

The ball joint, steering link, axle bolt and axle half were easy by comparison.

No...I did NOT do the other side. It's supposed to be, like, 7 degrees here the next 2 days. it'll pass now, gud-nuf. Salt sux.

in the pic, I'm on the left. My buddy had his rump up close to the kerosene heater!

I got my 4.88 gears in, rebuilt my rear LS and added a mustang Trac loc to the front. swapped my SC pulley to a 2.5 and adjusted the A/F and speedo. Well not one day but 2 days.

what does it take to rebuild the rear LS. I know mine has the 3.31 ls and I am not sure if it's working.
