I did notice in the plain english BdyCM module there is mention of global open and global close 1 thru 5. Have not messed with that yet but can't help but wonder if it would open/close all windows and either the sunroof or vents? Much more to explore in all this...

A really big thanks to all the pioneers and folks who blazed the way so that people like me can actually do this stuff!

@mossback This is interesting. What year is your truck? I have a 2015 and I don't have any mention of global open and close 1 through 5 in the plain English menu of the BdyCM. Would you mind sending me your As-Built file for the BdyCM? The fact that there is 5 options perfectly suits the 4 windows and moonroof. When you get a chance, you should try enabling say global open 1 in FORScan. Don't make any other changes at the same time so it's easier to identify the address line that differs. Then, press the unlock button once followed by pressing it again and holding the unlock button on your key fob for at least 3 seconds to see if the driver's window rolls down. If it does, then compare the BdyCM file before you made the change and after to find the lines(s) of code that changed and then share! Then move forward with enabling global close 1 and see if this works by hitting the lock button once and then holding the lock button on your key fob for at least 3 seconds. This could be a neat breakthrough.

On the flex/mkt and a few other ford/Lincoln vehicles there is no way to keep the lights from turning on with a door open so dark car is the alternative.

But the Expedition has a switch, right? Didn't drive the Expy today, so can't look myself. If it only gives you the option to turn off the interior lights, and there is a switch for it, why make a Forscan change, that can't be reversed without a Forscan change?

Um, don't you just roll the dimmer switch all the way down? My 08 works that way....

ads245, please PM me your email and I will happily send you the file. My truck is a 2017 limited EL. It will be a bit before I get to play around again- likely next weekend. I've attached a screen grab that shows some of the global fields.

There is no control or menu setting to switch off the dome/courtesy lights that I can find on this vehicle. If I've just missed it, I'd love to know, because, yes, there are times when having the lights would be useful. There is a control that lets you switch them on when the doors are closed, but no way to switch them off when the doors are open. I missed the ability to have them off like I did with my Suburbans. I agree an easily accessible switch would be best.

Just thought of something. Was thinking about why your 2017 would have the plain English global open and close options but my 2015 doesn't and it dawned on me that maybe there's a new update of FORScan released. Sure enough, I just checked and a new version was released in mid October from the version I'm currently using. Going to update to the newer version tonight because perhaps in this latest version the FORScan team identified the global open and close options and it will show up for me as well. I'll report back with my findings.

I guess if you want to be stealthy or if you are doing something illegal and you don't want your interior lights to give a way your position. :secret::secret:

Way back when, cars had a single, overhead light called "the dome light". It had a switch that allowed you to turn it off. We called it "the dope light".

Swapped cars with the wife this afternoon, so I could have the Expy.

Needed to replace a bulb that was out, and adjust the Hypertech program installed.

Nope, no light switch. Even my Edge has one. So annoying! Why take out a perfectly useful item?!?

Now Dark Mode makes perfect sense.

Thanks for confirming. I was worried I was nuts for not seeing it...

Very possible. FWIW, I'm using FORScan 2.3.12b with the OBDLink MX (rev 2.2/R4 fw 4.3.2)

I updated my FORscan version and oddly enough I still don't have the options for global and close 1 through 5 with the plain English section of the BdyCM. Anyone else have/not have these options (trying to figure out if it's based on year or some coding difference in the BdyCM)?

I'm stumped at to why @mossback can see these and I can't. I briefly compared the As-Built files between @mossback 's 2017 expedition and my 2015 and same amount of address lines are present (goes all the way to 726-68-01), so that hasn't changed. Nothing stood out to me as being different other than the few lines that consistently differ between expeditions.

@mossback hopefully you have more success playing with the plain English option and can see if the enabling/disabling works!

My SSV has dark mode, useful on occasion but also annoying at times... ive had people forget and leave all sorts of shit cuz the light doesnt turn on automatically when they exit

Can ForScan turn the domes on for an '09 SSV?

Andy, just wanted to thank you for the ForScan info you posted for me. I'll be tweaking with this later after my tour ends. Btw, I have had several occasions where an interior light disable comes in handy:
1. When vehicle camping and you need to enter/exit vehicle or access cargo at night and don't want to attract loads of moths and other bugs.
2. Also, I know the lights have a timeout, but if you keep opening and closing your door I think it keeps activating the lights and could eventually wear the battery down (I'll admit, this is unlikely tho).
3. When we were experiencing the solar eclipse this year, we were in the path of totality and you wanted your interior lights disabled for this for effect. So as we were getting in and out of our toyota, we didn't keep activating the interior lights. Was an incredible experience BTW.
4. Sometimes you just want to sit in the dark and be stealthy...

Muddy, I like share when I can and that tip from @LokiWolf saved me from having to install resistors, which I really didn't want to do. I didn't want to cut into the factory wiring.

Those are all good reasons for dark mode, I was being facetious. :D

ADS, I'll go out to the truck when it warms up a little this afternoon and check mine to see I if have the global close options (I think I do, because that looks familiar). My truck was built December 15, 2016 if that helps.

My 05 had a positive off on the dimmer switch. The 17 doesn't.
Well that's just plain dumb.

We use it all the time; if you have small children and they fall asleep on the way home from town or somewhere, it's really nice to be able to turn the interior lights off when you get home and go to get them out....

It is dumb. For such a nice rig it's crazy to me that it lacks this basic function.

ads, when you updated to the latest FORScan and connected to the truck, did you let it do a new scan/listing of all the modules? You weren't, by chance, looking at an older, previous profile?

Good thought, but I created a new profile after I updated just to be sure.
