Came across this kit and like the fact it exits out the rear of vehicle instead of side like magnaflow.

I am assuming the main hurdle would be hangers and the dual inlet to muffler. Any thoughts?
You’ll probably spend half that price trying to get it to fit with the issues you stated above. They should make one for the 18+ Expeditions already if not in the near future. You could always just cut out your old muffler and put a Borla one in there. You already have 3” piping I believe. I would recommend against messin g with the exhaust. I put a magnaflow straight through system on my 16 and immediately regretted it. Sounded like a 6700 lb civic when you floored it

Side exhaust is better for cavernous trucks with big liftgates and tons of cargo space

With rear exhaust you'll collect a noticeable amount of fumes if you leave it running while you load a bunch of stuff.... unless you got start/stop and it sorts that out automatically? Idk

Its still going to sound like a small V6, because IT IS A SMALL V6. Don't expect a mean deep roar that you are used to from V8's and such. My muffler stays on simply to hide the V6.

small V6? huh? while technically you are right looking at the size of each cylinder, I would really wonder who produces a 300ci (5l) v6.

Or did you just mean absolute terms, 3.5l is not 6l?

Thanks for all the input...

I keep going back and forth about a new exhaust system... I really want to hear stuff in person because I have never owned a v6 that I wanted to mod before. Always had mustangs before kids. Edit: v8 mustangs :D

If there is anyone in DFW area that had exhaust care to meet up so I can hear?

Why not just chop off the rear resonator? I did that on my 16 and got a real nice sound. No highway noise and no rasp

Go to the Hennessy website and listen to thier 650 horsepower navigator with the borla exhaust,it should be nearly identical to the expidition model soon to appear.
That little v6 in stock for produces some pretty impressive numbers in horsepower and torque, nothing to laugh at.

i am pretty sure the Hennessey Navs in the videos from their website all have stock exhaust. at least from appearance. you can see the exhaust in all the vehicles except for the dyno pull and they all look stock. they definitely do not look like the exhaust shown in the borla link.

Ya, its only 3.5L's, so don't expect it to roar like a Huge lazy V8 typically does. This like V6 makes crazy power and thats why I bought one, but I know better than to think its going to have a mean sounding exhaust note. V6's make a sound thats not for me! I'll never knock this Ecoboost, but it just simply won't have a huge deep rumble.
I'm only trying to be honest before guys drop $2K and expect a great sound from the tailpipe.

Definitely youtube the heck out of F150's and such to hear as many examples as possible before you buy.....

Those are going to be completely different due to where the muffler and resonator are situated compared to Expeditions. Expedition go DP, flex pipe, muffler, pipe, resonator. F150s go DP, flex pipe, resonator, pipe, muffler, pipe. Completely different sounds

No they come with the borla system
They look different installed.
the ones in the videos are stock, thats a fact. go look at the photos here 6th one down. that has the aftermarket exhaust. when they made those videos, i bet the borla wasnt available yet, but for whatever reason, the borla system is NOT in any of those videos.

Still the same engine, so it will give a representation of the lameness of its sound!

the sound of each engine concept is different. A Harley does not sound like a BMW 2 cylinder despite same # of cylinders and similar displacement. And you can never make them sound similar mainly due to the firing order of the cylinders. You could make a BMW louder than a Harley, but it would be still distinct. Making it louder does not change its fundamental firing characteristics. Hope that makes sense.

And yes, a V6 Ecoboost will never sound like a V8 or V10. It might sound great or not...

and yeah, this Ecoboost is actually the base of a true race car engine....

Ive also been told that he placement of the muffler and straight pipe/ resonator really affects the sound output as well. That’s why there are a lot of differences in sound outputs on the f150s. Some guys do 3” or 4” systems. Some do muffler plus resonator. Some do muffler plus straight pipe out the back, out the side under cab, chambered vs straight through mufflers, dual resonators, OEM resonator vs SPD or equivalent resonator. Dual exit, single exit, h pipe, y pipe. Too many variables and they all sound different. And most sound like shit on our v6s. Just be warned
