I never run eco because the trans gets so lazy. Its worth a try I guess! :)

Trans is lazy, ride is like a floating old Cadillac normally, boost is gone, etc. Terrible mode. I didn’t even get better MPG in that mode over a few tanks, but maybe it has its one use. Curious what it does for ya.

TFL just posted the Ike test for the Suburban. Scores below the Expedition, but seems like they were very happy with it.

The 6.2 and eco 3.5 have similar torque and HP and at 50-60MPH (passing speed) the 6.2 pulls ahead.

Pretty sure a tuned 6.2L would destroy a stock expy.

The 3.5 is a nice engine, don’t get me wrong but no matter how much fake engine noise ford pumps into the cabin there’s no beating the sound of the 8’s IMO.

No way the 6.2L N/A engine (even tuned) could even come close to the nearly 600 whl hp & 600 lb ft torque the 3.5L Gen II engines are capable of when tuned.
I have driven them both in the same area & even without tune the 3.5L will flat outrun the 6.2L
That has been my experience driving driving several Escalade company vehicles verses my own 2018 Expedition (even with stock calibration file loaded)
Do not want to start a war here just offering my own actual real world experiences:33:

Wow, that’s very interesting. I have never seen an outlaw race. But that makes sense with the sway. I don’t think I would have the balls to ride a outlaw over a 50’ double. I am so old I raced a Quad Racer 250 and a Quadzilla in the open class. Then moved to a YFZ 450 then to a LT450. Always loved the Suzuki’s. Still have a desert prepped LT450. The floats where awesome for MX but sucked in the desert. Elka was my favorite.

The Elka's we kept getting had horrible shock valving, we literally sent them back so many times that we finally gave up on them! I don't run the quads anymore either! :)

Looks like GM did the minimum again. IRS and some length. The folding seat design is the clunky one from the last generation Expedition, which I have and hate. But, I'm sure it will sell well, as many people are vested in those brands and it's a big improvement, packaging wise, over the prior gen. Can't wait to see what Ford fires back with in a few years. Waiting for a PHEV Expedition.

FWIW, it looks like GM only offers one rear axle ratio in the 2021s: 3.23.

It felt like gramma's Buick gearing, thats for sure. It was laboring and groaning and it wasn't going anywhere fast, just laboring where it had no torque. How stupid to run highway gears in a big heavy vehicle. Now wait and imagine how much worse the XL will be with the added weight and no torque. I'm starting to lean back to another Expedition, so hopefully my second sway bar is the trick to fix the bobble-head issues.

I have this bad feeling that GM rushed this thing to market and their tow pack gearing isn't ready yet, the air suspensions not ready, the XL's not ready...... Seems like a great vehicle to avoid the more I dig into it.

They needed to get out from under the last gens issues. They barely escaped getting buried by class action lawsuits...

<1500lbs payload?!? You can have power to match the Expedition or payload, but not both. And both is kinda important if you're towing on a regular basis.

I liked how Mr. Truck said the 6.2 was his favorite seal level engine.

If you watch the TFL video of the new Suburban with 6.2L and the 18 Expedition as they climb that 8 mile long mountain, the 6.2L tach is sitting at 5,500 SCREAMING RPM, and the Ecoboost is sitting at 3,000 rpm and pulling with ease. If that doesn't put to bed the lack of torque on that 6.2L, then nothing will.

The 5.0 F-150 did the same thing. Look, I like the sound of a V8 (former AJV8 owner here) just as much as the next guy. But I have no desire to listen to it scream for hours on end on every road trip with the travel trailer... And my 3.5L, like in the video, is very happy to run up the passes at 2300-3300 rpm...
